I was told I played some mean drums by 3 different people after a gig this past Saturday night. I'll let yall guess what three words I kept saying after that...and when one person asked me what kind of "guitar" I played, I said it was a Stingray. His reply was "like the one that killed that Crocodile dude?" I was so amazed by that guys comment, that all I could say is yes, and walk away.

Yes I played at a bar in BFE nowhere, and I'm still confused and wondering what were these people smoking.

LOL! I know the frustration. I now live in a very small po-dunk town in the middle of know where. Some folks know their musical instruments here but some have no clue.

Oh, I can top that... how about, you've been putting on a pretty wild show, sweat all over, come down from the stage to the bar to get your free beer, and the prettiest of barmaids asks you "have you been on stage? I didn't notice...".

Carp. I mean, bass. I mean... effin drummers.

LOL. The clueless bar patrons are still the ones who buy the beer that get us the gigs so it pays to be nice to them. Even if it is hard sometimes. :0)

Jimmy were you at Rehab?

No, that was Thursday night, this was on Saturday. Rehab is actually pretty nice, and they like to force feed us plenty of alcohol. We're the house band there for Thursday nights now in case your ever in the area (its down below your house).

We were playing a bar called Carl's place in Orangeburg. It looked like a an old biker bar. The bar didn't close at 2 am, so they paid us a little extra and we started at 11 pm played till 3:30 in the morning:eek::eek::eek:. I got home home at 6:30 am and that sucked. All kidding aside, it was a great show, packed house, and a fun as hell night. The people who made those comments were drunk off their a$$. I can understand how someone could have mistaken me for the drummer just by them being drunk, but I seriously about lost it when the dude made the Steve Irwin comment. That was just too funny.

paranoid70, I feel your pain, I've been stung about 7 times so far. I no longer take them off the hook by hand, I just beat them off of it now.

Oli........um...........well............sucks to be you lol:D

Wow 7 times?! I was actually swimming in the ocean when I was stung - I still have the scar on my ankle 22 years later.

Whilst no humour attached, we played back to back gigs, One at a Rugby Stadium, 16,000 peeps, full back line, roadies, bar, dressing room, VIP all the way, the next one at Student union bar, 3 people! That hurt... but its only rock n roll and I like it!

yes, mostly on my feet and ankles. Luckily most of them barely got me so no real bad scars, one got me real good at the base of my left hand. All hurt like hell, and yes I did go to the doctor for some. I've had my fair share of run ins with all kinds of salt water critters so I don't really go to the beach much anymore.

Lynottfan I think I have you beat with the three people. We played this crap place called the Sand Shack, and were using a different singer because ours was sick that night. This dude was so bad, he was singing the wrong words to the wrong songs. Hey sang the words to Mr Brownstone to the music of The Clincher by Chevelle!!! Everyone left within 30 minutes, and after our first set, the owner paid us to stop playing lol. We played for 1 hour, and were supposed to play for three! It was quite embarrassing considering the level of talent that is in this band. We haven't played there since that show and I could care less if we ever do again.

thats not even it. The worst is getting the "And Justice for All" treatment.
You spend hours recording your bass part. The mix monkey even asks you to punch in a few notes he thinks are off key (they aren't the root so he is confused). Come back the next day and all you hear are drums, guitars and vocals.
Thing is, there isnt a guitar hero for me to rescue my bass tracks from!
