Okay, so I've heard that there are some differences in the resonance of a guitar with a vintage trem vs. string-thru hardtail. Would anybody who has both (very preferably, two of the same model guitar which differ only in bridge and obviously perhaps color) like to demonstrate that? I could host 'em.
I'm thinking the best way to test that would be to simply play a cowboy chord or two (EMaj is good), let it ring out completely, and maybe a barre chord further up the neck (for simplicity, CMaj at the 8th fret is good), again letting it ring out. Most preferably, just DI'ing into an audio interface (or using a stealthplug, whatever) and recording it bone dry would be best, but anything with a clean setting is probably fine.
To simplify things, if anybody has an AL SSS w/ vintage trem I could do the hardtail portion of the recording, but I do everything with an impedence-matching input buffer right into my audio interface so for a good comparison you'd have to have a way to record direct.
Soo...who's game? I know some of you guys have like multiple silos and ASSes out there, and I think this could help out at least a few people with a buying decision.
