I found a used Silhouette Special in a color I like (Orange-ish metal flake) but it has a rosewood fretboard. I intend on making this an SSS guitar with a Johnny Hiland setup (Electric City Pickups and Martin Six String Customs wiring harness) to be the Strat/Tele killer of my fleet. I want a maple 'board though (sound/playability preference). Would it be crazy to get another used Silo Special, swap the necks, and then sell the "other" Silo with the rosewood fretboard? Has anyone done anything like this?

I've done this before with my two JPs.

I've been trying to do the same thing(neck swap on my silo sp.). Good luck.

I know the guitar your talking about, pay close attention to the cracks in the neck plate and the finish, it looks like someone way over tightened it or something.

No way I'm switching the neck on my Silo Spec... I love that thing! But then again it's all maple. If it had a rosewood board Id be wanting to swap too!

Your neck would probably ruin some people's pants if they saw it, a spectacular example of a neck that cannot get better.
