I figured EBMM would offer a 13pin piezo option at some point. Maybe they already do and I'm not aware of it. Would it be a popular item? It certainly get my attention.
I played a direct from piezo to the 13 pin output one time. I really liked the difference frome the mag type roland pup. The attack was really there. I played around with the Idea of fitting my piezo silo with one. I just wasn't brave enough to do the investment and take the risk. I personally would love one. Mags, piezo trem and roland 13 pin all on one guitar. (My guitar can do more than your guitar)
I think the 13-pin would be a cool option.. but I don't think I'd pay more than $100 extra for the option. I have no idea what the cost would be to incorporate one..
I don't see that being an option unless one of the sig players asks for it and they offer it on the sig models - maybe I'm way out of date, but I can't imagine that many players wanting it - how many are Godin or Fender selling with the midi access? I'm sure if it is a high figure, a lot more companies would be offering it as an option - maybe you should petition Morse or Petrucci to ask for it...
Unfortunately, money generated by non existent clientele has forced my second foray into midi guitar-ism (1st was Casio MG510 back in the 80's) to be a roland GI-20 with a Switch midi guitar (yet to have these two items hooked up together due to extenuating circumstances).
I have never tried a Godin and I don't really care for the Brian Moore necks. Entry level on these guitars are about $6-7 hundred and up.
JimmyP is most correct in saying it would be more of a signature item. Somehow, considering the mostly progressive nature of the artists who have a sig model, that would lend itself more to EBMM offering this option, especially the Morse model. As an aside, everytime I get a Carvin catalog I keep expecting to see a 13 pin option....but not yet.
I paid (oops, i didn't realize posting prices is a no-no<self edit>) for my Steve Morse about 4-5 years ago. I don't know what they go for now, but even at that price, compared to the other manufacturers, I know the SM plays like a dream and would gladly pay the extra few hundred for that option.
C'mon EBMM, how about it?
