I have only heard of one Ray with a 1.5" neck. Other that that it was actually a Sabre option, not really a StingRay option.

I am the original owner of a '79 Ray with a 1.5" nut; I do recall reading somewhere back in that day that the thinner neck was an option introduced on the Ray in 79, not solely for the Sabre...
