"This is a 1996 20th anniversary model (1976-1996) Musicman Stingray lined fretless bass, as far as we know, there were none of these imported into the UK"

So how did this one get there? Hmmm...

Man, the fingerboard on the unlined one is beautiful!!

It is a beaut! I even bid against you Steve, though I didn't even meet your first bid in two tries. A cheapskate like me will never have such a thing. :) I'll trade you an SR5 and a Sabre for it when you win.

I've never really liked them fancy boy quilt tops, but those anniv. Rays look fantastic to me and this one looks better than usual.

Ahem, that sounds mighty tempting as I know where i can get my hands on an unlinded 20'th anniv SR.

Well, maybe that was a hasty remark. Then again…

Tell ya what. Fly me and my basses (and my personal secretary) to Sweden, put me up in your basement for a week and we'll haggle.

Forget about the secretary:p

Those 20'th anniv SR's sell for about the same as awell kept SR5 here in Sweden. Not common, mind you, but they pop up now and then.
The only thing I don't like too much about them is the glued on pick guard. Amd the fact that they are four-bangers:p

Oh I won't win it...I bid $1,250 and didn't pop the reserve and won't go any higher. I saw one of these sell for almost $2,500 on eBay a while back and I won't pay that much for one.

OK, it's off to Sweden with me then. The secretary will be pissed cause she can't go though.

I traded my '79 sunburst Sabre for a fretted 20th Anniversary that should be coming to me any day now.

The fretless 20th Anniversary SRs are very rare - 21 lined and 35 unlined were made. (but then, you probably all know that already.

I forgot to mention that my Sabre had 14K gold hardware and strings :D

(and the 20th Anniv was gnawed on by a family of beavers...)

Then again…

BTW, This thread caused me to google reviews of this anniv. bass. One guy claimed that a Bart pickup was a factory option for $400. Is that a bunch of hooey or what?
