I believe it was professor plum in the study with the air conditioner.

Seriously though thanks for all your responses. I do not not know of any significant sudden temperature changes that may have occurred. It was shipped on a passenger airplane as luggage from USA.
The luthier changed the pickup which is why I thought he may have removed the neck.

The jack has given me some problems in that the hex head occassionally comes loose and sometimes when plugged in the bass loses volume, cuts out or crackles and I have to fiddle with cable to get return to normal. But thats probably a separate issue entirely.

From what I've read polyester finishes are repairable, but at what cost I don't know.

How was the golf game?

On Wednesday I played 18 today with a Yank couple. I was absolutely intimidated by the water on every hole (sometimes on both sides of the fairway) and couldn't drive to save myself. Wet ball count was 7.

This is not a course for anyone who sprays their drives, it's very punishing, and the fairways are narrow on many holes. Having said that, I enjoyed the layout, which is heavily bunkered. Although basically a flat course, apart from one par 3 with an elevated tee, the fairways are undulating, which gives you plenty of downhill, uphill and sideways lies. The course was in very good nick, although the greens were quite hard and it was difficult to get anything longer than an 8 iron to stick.

Yesterday I played in the midweek 9 hole guest and staff comp. Huge improvement on the previous day. I lost 2 balls over 9 holes, compared to 7 over 18 yesterday. The good news was that the two balls I lost were not slices - all 7 yesterday we're sliced drives into the water. Today I drove straight through a dogleg fairway and found swamp, and pushed a 7 iron left on a par 3 into the jungle. Fixed my slice by widening my stance an inch or two.

Came third in the comp, so won 3 balls, which meant I was net +1 in the ball department today.

Played with three Poms, two of them living in Guangzhou, China. Had a scare on the 8th when a humungous deer came thrashing out of the rough on the left of the green. We were more worried about what was chasing the deer, rather than the deer itself. Fortunately, no tiger or cobra appeared.

Aussie Mark..master of the obvious...

Well, the thread was new today, so I scrolled down page one, saw no other rocket scientists had mentioned it, and hit "reply". Of course without realising that BP had kicked off page two of the thread with the very same observation. Great minds think alike, hey big fella?

The only cobras I see on the golf course are drivers

You need to get out a bit more. There's a spare room at our house in Jakarta anytime you and the missus are in the region (the same offer goes for any forumite - we've already had a visit from a US based Pitter since we've been living in Indonesia). I'll show you some purty golf courses, and while it's unlikely you'll see a cobra up close unless you're crazy enough to look for your ball in deep rough, you will more than likely see one of these on the course ...
