hay guitar slingers. Azazael and I met up last night and headed off to a tiny club in the centre of Glasgow to see the kings of rock Y&T. Wow. What an amazing performance by big man Dave. He must be pushing 80 but boy can he rock. He put everything into his performance. It was a joy to see. Great gig with great company.

Anyone else seen them??

Cheers

J

Great report Jonny!
They're a great band for sure.

How was their tone? What amps were they using?

Saw them a few times back in '83 - '85. Those guys bring it. Dave was and still is amazing, great voice and chops.

It was a great gig apart from the asshole behind me who kept bumping into me and pushing me forwards!

Gear wise... an old Les Paul thats been gigged silly and what appeared to be a custom shop Fender Strat that was quite sexy. Don't think he heard me shouting he shud get a silo though... Amp wise... Boogie Dual Recs and some Boss pedals. Chorus and delay and an Ibanez Tubescreamer.

The support band Glyder (which Jonny missed) were quite good as well one of them sporting a rather lush Tobacco flamed maple top LP. First LP in a LONG time thats impressed me.

You shoulda chucked your silhouette onto the stage Jonboy try and force the issue upon him!

Yeah,

Dave's one of our local boys here, from the guitar heavy "Hayward" area (John too), and has "always" put 100% into his performances, even back in the day.

Has the same Les Paul as he did back then, and the same Marshall Plexi. They still hang around here and do local gigs as well. Great player - certainly paid their dues!

Great story! Never saw them live, but I was always under the impression that Dave Meniketti is on fire from bar one to the end of a song, if you know what I mean!

Not only is he a great guitar slinger but a gorgeous rock singer as well!
You don't find guys like Dave very much anymore in todays music business...

I saw them live in 1983 ...
It was in Paris and they were opening for Ozzy Osbourne (with Jack E Lee).

Nice memories ...
