I know this is old, but I put a set of Dimarzio Dominions into one of my Y2D's because I wanted a different sound, and I'm glad I did! The things SHREDS now, with plenty of low end chunk, and the neck pickup sounds quite paf-y. Very cool pups.

Sorry Mr. Fantasy Metal. I had too much Christmas Cheer the last couple of days. Didn't mean to be rude or anything. Maybe it's just me, But I figure if I'm buying into a signature guitar. I'm pretty much buying into the tone or genre of the model of the signature endorser. Not that I want the precise tone, But to make it my own and put my touch and style into it. My question is: Why would you buy a Morse Model guitar? Why not a Silo or Axis and dump whatever Pickup config you wish? I just don't understand. Is there really no EQ or pedal option to give you that bottom end that your looking for other than a Pick up change? I can understand the tinkering and such. It's fun and to each is own. Maybe it's me though thinking that for a player like Morse and guitar maker like Music Man. I would think they pretty much got it right. Please take no offence. I pull out clumps of hair every time I see someone wanting to change out JP's pick ups as well ! Happy Holidays ! Happy New year too.

Really, I didn't get into to steve morse guitars because of the tone. I got my first ebmm, a Y2D, before I had ever really listened to Steve Morse. It just has one of the most comfortable neck profiles.

ive heard a crunch lab in the morse, it sounds killer,

does it still had this typical SM-Y2D attack sound to it?
what i like about the original DP200 SM PUP is that kind of upper mid-range attack.
if anybody can tell me, which PUP does have this upper mid-range sound and on the other head more low-end - please let me know!

at the moment i have a D-Activator in my PDN2012 but it's lacking on top-end compared to the other Y2Ds now.

i play guitar for 8 years, and i had the chance to buy my first real guitar a week ago, a music man steve morse (the classic shape in black)

honestly one of the things that always annoyed me about people on guitar reviews (for example ultimate guitar) is that the guitar is always a 10 of 10 even if its a squier. however

my definition of a guitar changed this week. the guitar is amazingly well constructed, solid, ABSOLUTELY confortable to play and feel, and sounds amazing. cant imagine anything better. with all respect i cant understand why you want to change the pickups too on it, the range of tones/sounds you have is outstanding, the definition of them are beyond great as well, and you can go from big output rounded tone to the exact opposite on this guitar...

if the problem is eq, then use your amp to get the tone or better yet, get an eq pedal!

Well, if you look at your anecdote here, then you might see how the same applies with tone and pickups. I like the Y2D and Morse bridge pups, but once you start reorganizing combinations you start to hear how you can get closer to what you are listening for. Some people do not have a specified tone in mind, in which case the silhouette and Morse guitars really cover all of the bases, but when you have specific sound goals in mind, what is for some the dream tone is to others lacking.
