Hey guys, I love my Y2D but I would like to change the single coil to a noiseless pup with way more output. I'm interested in a neck sounding pup and intend to use it as such...any suggestions?

Hello Amiller

Think carefully before you invalidate your warranty!!

How about Fender Samarium Cobalt.....they really are noiseless on my Strat Deluxe. No idea about output or compatibility.

Hey Colin - actually was just talking about that today with someone.
We're leaving at the end of July. I still don't have any work lined up but sometimes you just gotta go with the gut instincts and do what you know is right.
Have you heard of any work going?

Bill
We'll get you a job, no worries... I'll call Tim Carter for you  seriously with your talents, you'll have no problems.

Hey Tommy, how are...I haven't heard from you in while.

No, I haven't looked at the shape of the base plate. I just started thinking about swapping out the pup. I've tried raising it but I don't like the sound of it all that much. The other pups and the guitar are great.

Do you have any pup suggestions that will work?

al.....yer geetar is done. being as you said you don't use yer tone control at all....i wired that pot to the second coil of yer neck humbucker as a blender. now you got a good sounding neck posistion single coil or full hummer on yer y2d w/out adding any holes.........swapping pickups.........or changing the awesome look of that guitar. & it's simple to put back to stock if ever the need comes.
:D

what a killer flametop u got !!!!!!!!!!
post a pic of that thing for sure !!!

Just wanted to "amen" this idea.

I was playing with my Morse (at Tommy's recommendation, put a Lollar Blonde in the strat pickup slot - sounds great) and while I was at it I wired up the tone control to split the bridge HB (so you can blend from full humbucker to split coil). Sounded great! So I also wired up my Y2D the same way.

Only other thing I did was add a 250k resistor in parallel to the volume pot to replace the load the tone pot used to have on the p'ups (so it doesn't get any brighter).

Anyway, great & simple little mod for those who don't use their tone control - especially on the Morse/Y2D where the bridge HB sounds great split.

Hmmmm, I don't notice anything being any brighter. Is this a given or a precaution?

The tone pot was providing a 250k load in parallel with the vol pot's 250k. So combined load of 125k. When you lessen the resistance the sound gets slightly brighter so I put the 250k resistor in.

On the Y2D it wasn't really that noticeable. With 500k pots you'd notice a difference though. (Like on the Axis.)
