Hi,
I own one Y2D guitar and I just love it, but... I want to be able to split the
bridge humbucker...Question is: is it possible? and if so how?
There are only red, green and clear wires coming from the pickup.
The red goes to the 5-way switch and green and clear to the pot as ground.
Thanks in advance,
odur

Hi Odur,

Welcome to the forum!!

I just got a Y2D myself. I thought about doing almost the same thing. Only, I was going to install a 250k push/pull pot to split both humbuckers. I decided against it. Given the wiring you just said, I can't offer anything other than a welcome here and to wait upon others to show up. You'll surely get an answer shortly.

Cheers,

thanks for the replys guys,
tommyindelaware: thanks, I found the black and white wires so if I put in new push/pull pot I should be able to split the pickup..
I use the tone control mostly in all the way up position, yes.

if you wouldn't miss the tone control....u can wire the pot that is now being used as a tone control to be used as a blender control indtead...........for one of the hummer coils. it's simple to do.....& very easy to put exactly back to original if desired.

Tommy's spot on ... it's a great suggestion. I did it to my Morse and Y2D (never used the tone controls on either) and it gives you a good range of sounds as you dial in the spit. I've had push/pull splits before and this is much quicker to operate as you don't have to fumble to pull the pot while you're playing.

There's a wiring diagram here on the Duncan site. The colours will be different though- the black and white wires (under the heat shrink) will go to the tone pot, and you leave the others where they are.

Ok here are the results of my experiments, I started with the tone pot as blender/splitter on the bridge HB. I decided then to try out the pull/push mod, installed new pull/push pot for volume and connected both neck and bridge HB...the guitar has changed to tone monster :).
Thanks again for your input,

Hey great- glad that worked out for ya.

I went the other way- a push/pull for bridge & neck, then a 4pdt toggle for both bridge & neck in series/split/parallel ... and then finally just the spin a split on the bridge.
