Dear all

Just been reading the review of the Y2D in Guitarist magazine, and it looks from the text as if the whammy is a 'down only' type?

Is this right?

Can it be made to float or am I going to be dissapointed?:(

Thanks

Yes it is a down only Floyd. But you won't be disappointed cause they're a great guitar. If you feel the need to have a floating trem you could get the mod done by a luthier, this will void your warranty though.

Bungo,

I've got a Y2D with the Floyd. It does sit flush on the guitar body (i.e. there's no routing of the body to allow you to pull up).

I've heard of some folks who can float a flush-mounted trem by setting up the bridge to be tilted 'forward' by default. Thus, giving you some room to pull up before the bridge is level and hits the body.

I don't know if I'd try it though, especially on a guitar with a nice top like a Y2D.

Thanks Guys

I think I agree about the 'tilting forward' approach. This would look and feel wrong I think. 'If it ain't meant to then don't make it' is generally an approach that works for me!

I may still have to get one, I just know it wouldn't get the use that the JPs get. My Axis gets relegated to third choice because of it's 'down only' trem.

So, how about a Y2D fitted with a Petrucci trem system please????? Eh, eh? Ah go on! Please!:D
