Well I know what you're thinking right now, Yamaha, Ampeg and Eden!? Of course, eden is going to be better but hear me out. Main thing right now is value for the money as I'm a bit short at the moment. Here are the 3 and kind of 4 choices.

First up, is the Yamaha BBT500 combo. $440
Yamaha BBT500 115 Programable Bass Combo Amplifier (500 Watts, 1x15 in.) from zZounds.com

Next, is the blem Yamaha BBT500 head and a blem 2x10. ~$400

Third is a used Eden Metro. $600+
No pics on that one since I lost the link but just one thing to note is tha I'll have to pay extra for shipping since its not from a store but is from a seller on Craigslist.

Finally is a used Ampeg B-2 combo. $300

This one is local so no need for extra shipping fees.

Well those are the amps that I have to choose from. The Eden is probably the best out of the four but might be out of my price range. The Yamaha seems really cool but Im not sure which is better, combo or head and cab. The Ampeg seems decent, but I don't know how it compares to the Yamaha.

If it helps at all I play a Musicman Stingray HH, and the tone is just amazing. I need a good amp to complement it as my current amp is just plain junk. I mainly play oldies, jazz, and funk but I play a bit of rock occasionally as well. Not sure if any of this helps but Ill include it anyway :D

Let me know what you guys think, and thanks!

600 for a Metro... better jump on that - it kills the other two you have listed (never been a Yama fan). As long as the Eden is in good shape and you can afford the coin on it, it is a great deal and will serve you well (esp with a Ray).

I feel that the Markbass has the better sound and is a much better value than the Eden gear. I lived in Minnesota and went through the Eden factory quite a few times and it is nice gear. The Markbass just sounds better to me.

I have the Yamaha head and a Yam 210 with an Epi 210 as well. Both cabs are 4ohms so the amp is set up for max power.

The set up is good. Most of the amp models are very useable. Value for money is very good. I bought the head for £185:eek:

The Markbass CMD 121P or the Eden Metro?

I REALLY like the Mark stuff - depending on what you are doing would dictate, for me, which one to go with. Practice and small gigs - Mark. Small & Med gigs and/or 5 string - Metro (the 121 just doesn't quite hold the low B). Now Metro against a 102 is quite a different story - 102 all the way (but a bit more $).

Don't let the Mark fool you - that little 1x12 has HUGE sound (when a bunch of us test drove one @ GC in Texas our jaws were left on the floor) - It is just how it handles 5's that concerns me about it.

Yeah I tried the 121 last saturday since my local guitar center stocks them. The power was amazing and I really liked the tone. Just didn't know if it had enough power for gigs and such. They didnt have the 102 with them at the time but I'll definitely try it out as soon as I can. I guess I'll have to just keep saving up as I'm pretty much broke after buying the Stingray.
