Off Topic Yehaw, I am going to L.A.

Hi fellow knuckleheads,
only one week left till I am flying to L.A. for a three week road trip through the southwest of the USA. I am very excited!
Any suggestions from you guys over there which places to visit and which music stores to go to? (I am looking for a nice quilt topped bahama blueburst Luke BFR.)
Any of you guys interested in a personal meeting?
The route is the following (just roughly): L.A. - Palm Springs - Flagstaff - Moab - Salt Lake City - Tropic - Las Vegas - Bishop - Yosemite - San Francisco - SLO - L.A.
So, come on and let them ideas flow!

That's awesome Mikey! I love the West Coast...you will love Yosemite and San Francisco I'm sure. Havent been to all the other places, but you will have a blast I'm sure.

I'm assuming you have a camera. If you like photography and the desert, you will love Moab. Allow yourself some time to explore. I'd recommend Arches Nat'l Park for sure.....right outside of Moab and absolutely phenomenal! Bring large memory cards.....lot's of photo ops there. Get out early or stay out late (morning is best because people don't want to get up early) for best light and more tolerable temperatures. Moab in August is, well.......REALLY F'N HOT. If you have the spare cash, take a Jeep tour.....also the drive up the highway by the Colorado River is really pretty too. There is a cool little bouldering spot by the river that is obvious....if you are into climbing. While on the river highway, you will see Fisher Towers....a cool formation.

When in L.A. get to the coast and get on Highway 1 and drive some of the coast if you have time. Beautiful. I here that Guitar Center Hollywood is the best GC that there is.....lots of history there.

Delicate Arch - Arches Nat'l Park, Ut. - forget that you are perched on the edge of a 500ft cliff.

What Luv said and...Drive the 405, 101 and PCH 1 to Malibu...check out Santa Monica (the Pier and Ocean Blvd) or the 5 to San Diego, Spend an eve at teh Baked Potato. Too many good places to eat to mention. Tone Merchants and Mcabes for starters on Guitar shops.

Nice! Love the landscape down there. I'll never forget a road trip I took years ago driving from LA to Flagstaff, then Vegas, all taking the old roads (Route 66 etc.). So wild. Beautiful part of the world.

Enjoy your stay, cool trip, hell I have not even been to some of those places!! Check GC Hollywood and Vegas cool stores, as far as the BFR BB Luke good luck have not seen one anywhere in quite awhile. But check out the GC HH AL with the coil tap.

Oh and pics are a must once you return home. If you were coming to Dallas I would take you to a couple of my favorite resturants

The two best spots to find music man guitars in So Cal is Guitar Center Hollywood and Guitar Center Fountain Valley.

You have certainly planned a very long road trip, it will definitely be alot of driving. My favorite spot would definitely be Yosemite - it's absolutely beautiful. (It's huge too btw). If you have time in San Fran, the Alcatrazz tour is pretty neat. Lots of stuff in LA, but try to check out Venice... it's weird, but can be pretty fun.

Depending on your interests--america's national park system is a gift to all. Yosemite is a jewel...though 3 people just fell to their deaths at vernal falls. the water is raging apparently. Near Flagstaff, try and get to Grand Canyon and Sedona. IN Utah, Arches and Canyonlands are near Moab and are unbelievable. Also only about 2-4 hours north of vegas is zion and bryce NP. But all these places are going to be HOT HOT this time of year. Hike early

+1 on GC Hollywood. Easy to find, easy parking. You can try EBMM on all kinds of boutique amps.
But do yourself a favor, visit Tone Merchants in LA, they have all kinds of boutique/high end stuff that you won't find anywhere else. All the SoCal players go there when they want serious gear.

Hey Mikey, don't know if you'll have a chance but as others have said Venice and Santa Monica are both fun places to see. Dependon where you are staying in la I would recommended checking out amoeba records while you are in Hollywood as well as a few other places like stopping for a Pinks hotdog, In N Out burgers if you've never been and Lowrys in Beverley Hills for a great prime rib. On your way east also try to stop by old town Pasadena for some shopping and food, Its on route 66. Have a great time.
