Okay, I am not afraid to do my set ups and I have already done a few. HOWEVER I have not done much with my Silo yet. So I put 10's on it a while back and adjusted the truss a little bit. However since I replaced the PUPs a few weeks back, and taken all the strings off, there has been slight buzzing ALL over the fret board. I checked the relief and that seems to be just fine, so am not too sure whatta deuce is going on. Should I straighten the neck and raise the saddles a bit more to get rid of buzz in higher register? I dont want a really high action tho. The factory height is already a LITTLE high for me. What to do what to do?

i had the same problem as you and I was never able to figure it out... I'd say try to go down to 9.5's..... I slapped 10s on my LP and was able to adjust everything fine... There are EB'ers here that have put 10's on the silo's without problems, me being a dummy just couldnt get it right....unfortunately I ended up selling the guitar.... :(

Thanks Beth. Not exactly the answer I was looking for in the FAQ. Well if no one else today has suggestions opinions I'm gonna have to take it into my own hands and do the trial en error thingy again. I'm glad I am not clumsy and have common sense when it comes to certain technical things  .

1. use a straight edge to adjust yer truss rod so yer neck so it is flat.
2. adjust yer saddles so the action is where u want it up around the 15th-20th fret area.
3. add relief to the truss rod so that the rest of the neck isn't buzzing to taste....

Aaaaa, the man I was expecting to hear from (read from). However do you think that I will need to raise the saddles since I have buzzing on the higher frets as well?

Alright buddy, thanx for the info. I'm gonna get to it in a couple of hours when I get home from my boring A$$ job. Oh yea, and on a side note, Steve Morse is aparently workin on some new material and Deep Purple came out with a new album. Know anything about all that? :)

Alright, I tried to do something about the buzzing, but it didnt work. I was not able to raise the saddles because I dont have such a small hex key. I loosened the truss rod to get some more relief so that I wouldnt at least have buzzing on the lower frets, but that didnt work. All it did was raise the action, which is absolutely horrable now. I cant even play now with such high action. I am still wondering wether the raisig of the saddles wil help. I am worried about that because I REALLY dont want high action. Does this mean I will possibly have to shim the neck or something??? **** I'm angry  !

i feel bad for yah, your going through exactly what I was....I gave up though.... :(
maybe take it to a luthier and see what they can do....I tweaked that mutha left and right and couldnt get it to stop buzzing, the only thing I didnt do is go down to 9's which probably would have fixed it ....... :)

You really need to let a professional handle your guitar have them show you and teach you...There should be zero reason for there to be this many problems going from 9's to 10's and imho going o 9.5's is not the answer.

Thanx. Have a great weekend as well. Oh by the way, I dunno if you can answer this Beth, but what's the deal with sealing the necks? Is it like an extra cost or something, or just as part of the warranty?
Hey BP, I get what you're saying. I'm gonna take it to the proffesionals in couple weeks when I get some more cash. They charge $85 to do a set up :( .

Here
I agree with BP (duh) There should be NO problem going from 9's to 10's and back again. Sealing the neck is something we do if a customer asks for it. It has nothing to do with production, warranty, or the price of tea in China. Your problem is a set up problem. Period. You don't need to seal the neck.

Try and find a tech that will let you watch what he does, and ask a lot of questions. Read our FAQ section. Then read it again. Learn to do your own setups. The tech down the street doesn't know how you want your axe to feel like. You do. Learn Grasshopper. And like Beff said, email me with any questions. But not today..I am not at work. I do check in over the weekend so you can post here, and I will see it at some point.

Jon

hahahha, that's funny. I JUST sent you an e-mail, and than came here reading your post. Well I have been trying my own set ups. I posted a while back saying I set up my Ibnz with a locking tremolo. That worked fine. I just dont know exactly what to do with this particular situation. Well anyway, I made an appointment in couple of weeks and hopefully they will let me see them at work. I dunno if that's gonna happen because this is in NYC, and NYC is a jungle. Well whatever, I'll attempt to work on it some more. Thanx for all the help boys and girls :) .

Sure thing buddy. I'll try doing more work on it myself, since week and a half is too much for me to wait with the action high and all that buzzing. Thank God it's not a locking tremolo. I LOVE ME SILO none the less!!! :D

Hey Tommy, I'm in Manhattan on the upper westside.
