Yarrrr matey's !
the order should be hitting SLO later today or tomorrow but i should expect delivery of a fretless Bongo5 by Christmas!!
I wasn't so daring with the colour, but chose Pearl Blue and followed Monk's suit with H/SC/Piezo p/u config oh, and a lined board.

Woo-Hoo!!!! only 3months to go!!!!!!!.... :(

Heh--that was easy. I haven't even posted the mp3s yet!

I think you'll love the SC/H/P config with the fretless. After setting it up with TI Superalloys, I've spent the last hour playing with different pickup/EQ combos, and I have found quite a few usable sounds in a short period of time for the fretless. I've even gotten a passable Koto sound by killing all of the lows/low mids/highs and cranking the high mids with the piezos soloed!

I won't be quite so silly at the 2 gigs this weekend, I've already picked 4 different tones to use for certain songs.

Fretless adds one more dynamic to the Bongo mystique. Sure, a lot of your sound is in your hands, but the Bongo can certainly allow you to shape with wreckless abandon!

The Carbon Blue will look super next to your Desert Gold Bongo on stage. And, I would think "vanilla" was about as non-daring as you could get. ;) After ,my Curbow gets back from refinishing, I'm going to be done buying basses for a while (I have an engagement ring that will kinda spoil GAS for a little while...ahem). But, there is a Desert Gold single humbucker Bongo in my future at some point. It's just as well I can't order it now since it will take me a year to decide between fretted and fretless!

Congrats on your impulsive, copycat purchase. :p :D I'm going to go play my fretless Bongo now. Feel free to join me in...oh.....3-4 months.

tick tock tick tock tick tock (I'm such a little b!tch, aren't I? :D )

Take my advice and get yourself a set of Thomastik Superalloys for the fretless--especially since you got the piezos. The smaller windings feel great, give you less string squeak, and still have as much mwah as you want.

You won't regret it.
