Wouldn't it be great if we had a thread dedicated only to moderators where they could vent. They would be free to say whatever they want to whomever they want and nobody was allowed to get offended. Like when one of us forum member asked a question that annoyed the hell out of them or asked something that they've had to answer six million times in previous thread, they could go over to their own little thread and speak their mind. Just to vent. I know I've asked these questions of them before and I really think they deserve a thread of their own to vent their frustrations. What do yall think moderators?

Surely its safer for them to vent frustration away from the computer and forum. I dont think asking members to not get offended would work because some people get easliy offended...

I know some people are very easily offended for some reason or other. But wouldn't it be fun to see what they're really thinking sometimes? I dunno, it was just a thought.

What might be a good is a forum that covers some of these issues.A forum of stickies. With info such as

What to clean your fret board with
What to clean the neck with
What to clean the body with
How to reconnect a stripped strap button
Set up info
tollerance
What to expect from a humbucker and a j pick up combo
Double h
Single h

Get the staff together and make a list and address these issues.
Make them easy to see,for the newbies, and existing members as well.

Members and moderators dont like the repeat questions then make a place that is quick and easy to look up much of this vs the search function.

Something like this may releave some of the pressure off the staff as well as not offending new members or potential MM buyers with the search police ,snotty remarks , or just out right ignoring peoples threads or posts.

I think sometimes that if MM had to depend on this forum for making new customers.MM would go out of business.

Cheers

A complete history of emails between me and Jon would be unsettling for everyone, I can tell you that much.

You mean to say our moderator's aren't moderate? :)

No, we're all okay with it so far.
You do realize that I'm pulling your leg, don't you?

I do hope they've realise that!

I was gonna say I thought you'd probably have a secret bitching area. Kinda glad you said it first.....

Most of these are not MM Specific but regardless, they can all be found in either stickies or posts via search.

Going to a list/separate forum is/will be as much 'involved' as doing a search so I can see most newbs ignoring it & posting anyway.

Besides whic h, the MM staff surely have more to fill their day with than giving cleaning advice and such.

Well, this forum IS for those kinds of things. But if we started stickying these issues in one forum, it would go on for pages and pages and then, of course, what's the point of stickying anything?

The real solution is to use the search function for questions such as "Stingray vs Sterling" or "What Do I Clean My Knobs With?" and so on. The questions that are asked over and over. I don't think many people are offended when I tell them to use the search function first, although I could be way underestimating how many people I actually offend.

I think sometimes that if MM had to depend on this forum for making new customers.MM would go out of business.

Well, while I respect your opinion, I have to most vehemently disagree. We not only have the usual suspects of long-time EB bassists (who know a lot of secret things about the instruments), we also have direct access to the head tech/repair guy, Scott Ball and even Sterling drops in occasionally. I see questions being answered, issues being addressed and problems being solved. I see the factory guys going out of their way to make sure that each instrument out there, whether it was purchased new or used, is the best it can be.

I'm not saying the forum is the best way to attract new customers, mind you. Word of mouth and a minimal amount of advertising does that well enough, but the forum is an amazing resource for people who have questions or want to know more or simply want to hobnob with other Stingray/Sterling/Bongo players.

You won't see this sort of direct involvement from the other "big" manufacturers, nor will you get the kind of response from them that we see on a regular basis right here.

You are, of course, welcome to your opinion about how well the forum functions, but I think most of us realize that EBMM doesn't have to do this to sell basses.

They do it because it helps US.

I'm giving the "if you don't have anything nice to post , don't post" thing a try. I realize sometimes I'm a little hard on new users but I think there is a level of etiquette that some "newbs" ignore to a frustrating level. We do not have the RIGHT to post on this board, It is a privilege and I'm very thankful that we have this board to learn about and talk about these great basses.
