Came today, he did. Jeremy and Erika both commented on it. "Ah, Heinz is back."

Heinz is back.

First, thank you, Rex. For any of you who haven't had the pleasure to deal with Mister Silverburst, he is just the best. He is taking the Blue Bomber back in trade and called me the other day to tell me not to worry about shipping it. "I'm supposed to be in Dallas this summer sometime...I'll just get it whenever I'm there." Rex, you rock.

And also thank you, Andrew, for taking good care of Heinz. He plays just as fine, sounds just as big and thick and meaty as he did when I sent him to you lo those many moons ago.

Tuned him up tonight, plugged in some cool tunes and have been remembering why I always thought this was such a damned good bass. Ugly? Maybe. But you ever have an ugly dog that was just fine? After a while, you begin to lose sight of the visual and just think, "That's a good dog." And it can even surprise you when people say, "Dang, that's ugly." All you can do is laugh and think, "Yeah, maybe, but I'm a lucky mofo."

I have two SR5s now - the 20th and Heinz. Yep, the 20th does sound different and it's still The Best SR5 Ever, but Heinz does what he does very, very well. I've had a boatload of 'regular' SR5s and this is the one that still speaks to me, even after all the others - and even after all this time.

Yeah, babies.

I've followed the saga of the Wonderbass for many years on several forums, and the neat circularity of this chapter is deeply satisfying. What next?

I'm not sure if there is a 'next'.

I never say never, of course....and our dear Strummer has already offered to bring Heinz over to Sweden, but we're going to wait a few months to see about that.

For the moment, all is well at Camp Bovine.

That bass must be a special bass for someone to want that ugly green thing back. Don't get me wrong I love the color green, just not that shade. But if its that much of a player I would gladly play a bass that color. Just not right after I have eaten. :D

Heinz is beautiful, and yes Jack has already declined my offer to buy the green giant from him, but I fully expect to have first dibs should the travels of Heinz the Wonderbass not be over.

To me, it's not just the color, though of course it's the perfect match to my Bongos, but more the story of Heinz that attracts me. Heinz is more than a greenish bass, he's like a symbol of good stuff, good friends and good times.

Guess I'll have to get my ass over to Dallas some day, watch jack sip martinis and befriend Heinz in person:)

I also recall much discussion about this bass here and elsewhere. I don't think it's ugly. Maybe not the best green ever, but it's fine to me.

Maybe it's just me, but I think I love any color as long as it's a trans finish. I mean I have a Trans ORANGE on order, and I NEVER thought I would ever like an ORANGE bass.

Honestly the Heinz looks almost like baby puke green, but damn I STILL love it! I also like the white PUP cover, and wish that was an option on ALL balls! :D

Jack, I apologize for not getting you a tracking number. I've just been slammed busy these past few days. I'm truly glad Heinz is back with his rightful owner. I read your story on Heinz on your web site and always knew that someday he'd come back to you. :)

Great pic of Heinz up there, Jack!
How did you do it, and what did you use as background... looks mighty professional...

Is that Andy on drums?

Glad to be of assistanct on this one Jack. Am I on the official list of owners for the bass now, even though I never actually touched it?
