Well, we ordered a batch before the deadline and there are still a few available.

How many buttercreme dual pickup models do YOU think there will be?

You want rare? You got rare.

Anyone wants one, email me, PM me. Steve Barr is a genius for thinking ahead, not me. I'm just a sales monkey.

176 Sterling HS Buttercream/Rosewood
156 Stingray 5 HS Buttercream/Rosewood
176 Sterling HS Buttercream/Rosewood

I suggest someone act fast on the SR5 HS with rosewood before I decide that I need it myself.

EDIT: Three left. All rosewood now.

Save me from myself, boys.

Already gots mine! :D

Curious - don't recall seeing many with maple. Wondering about the look.

Dude may be many things, and genius is certainly one of them. As popular as this Limited Edition color was, there won't be many dual-pick-up models out there. Best grab them before it's too late!

.

I've got two (...well counting the one in the oven) ButterCream basses and would buy more. I guess I'll have to wait and see if any "Special Edition" colors go with any of my shirts. :D

Sorry, lefty peoples of the earth - my wife's one of you, so I feel your pain, but you also know how hard it is to figure out what you really want!

Blast! If only I had the cash right now. I'm only working on weekends so cash isn't coming in very fast. (i'm still in high school) Plus, my cash is about to go into a GK 1001RB-II so that's a setback as well. Maybe one day.

Lots of tire kickers on that one but no takers - yet. It's still available. Tell the wife it's a collector's item!

Delivery, based on the thread below, looks like January on these.

Jack, this brings up a question that I have to ask. This is geared toward whoever at Music Man is in the know. Can we get the final numbers for the Buttercreme run? IE - how many of each model were made, and what pickup config/neck wood was used. I bet that someone out there (maybe someone that is on the list above) has a one-of-a-kind, and it would be cool to know.

Hmm, I think a similar question was posed a while back about specific numbers re sales of some model or other, and the answer was along the lines of "Specific numbers are confidential business information", which makes sense when you think about it.

I think the total number of buttercreme dual pickup Stingrays, Sterlings and Stingray 5s is fairly low; remember that the buttercreme option closed down a while back and the dual pickup models aren't due until late this year/early next year, so it makes sense that the numbers would be low.

The other thing that comes to mind is that very few dealers hang here and so weren't hip enough to know that (a) buttercreme was quickly coming to an end and (b) the dual pickup models CAN be ordered already if you're willing to wait a bit. Knowledge of both those concepts had to be in place for anyone to realize how rare these basses would be, if you see what I mean.

So while I can't give you specific or accurate numbers on the total number of dual pickup models in buttercreme, I am confident in saying that the numbers are going to be small.

Less than 50 total would be my take, although who knows how the numbers are split between Stingrays, Sterlings, Stingray 5s? Not I, nor would I think we'll get that information, but.....well, you see what I'm saying.

Gonna be rare.

Thanks for the reply. I must have missed the thread where we were told that numbers are confidential - sorry.

This makes me want to stash my impending Stingray 4 H/S a little bit more. Although I believe that the Stingray will probably have the highest number of buttercreme's ordered, if what you are saying is true, this one can possibly be 1 of only a handful made. Collectable no doubt.

I am further convinced that one (or more) of these dual pickup models will be the only one of it's kind. My bet is that it would most likely be one with a maple board since most people seem to favor the rosewood. This is all speculation, but it seems as if there is some very real chance that what I'm saying here is true. If I had the $$, I'd buy up every one of these right now.

This is strangely exciting. I have no idea why, but I'm really digging the fact that we have a shot at something special here. Well, all Music Man instruments are special, but...you know what I mean.
