Does your guitar's color have any affect on your mood and what you play?

(Possibly an odd question, but I'm a little out there anyway....so why not.)

I would say that it does at least a little, not to say that I wouldn't play something heavy and sinister on a bright yellow or white guitar, nor would I shun the idea of playing Happy Birthday on a Stealth Black guitar LoL. :p

I can't talk about the color of guitar because I only have one, but how I look (what I wear, haircut, etc) definitely changes the way I play. Maybe i'm just over-conscious or just crazy. Red, purple or black shirt with a black suit have the best results for me.

Some might think it's esoteric but I am completely sceptic to everything and yet I believe there is a strong psychologic component to colours. Very fair question I must say I would love to hear what others have to say!

the reason i ask is because i'm looking at getting another Ball.....maybe two (doh). i'm wanting something for heavy music. so i'm thinking a jp6, but i find myself gravitating toward tangerine pearl (which is beautiful). in the back of my mind i keep thinking that it seems odd (to me) to buy an orange guitar for heavy rock and metal. get black....be brutal! then i started thinking about the influence of color on the psyche and what not........hence the question.

Not at all.Actually, the most boring looking Ball I have is a silver [gray] axis sport, and it*s the best player of the lot.....an analogy...some girls look really great..some look just OK..then you get to know them..and you end up hanging out with the just OK one because they*re a lot more fun...Capiche?

My guitar is the colour of butter, quite literally. It sometimes shocks me - I have a yellow guitar. Wow! But she's more gorgeous than any yellow guitar could ever be! But personally, I don't think it changes what I play. Colour might change what I decide to buy (I'm not a big fan of black or red guitars, for example) but sound/tone certainly has a bigger effect. In fact, that's why the colour doesn't matter when I'm playing. I'm "seeing with my mind's ear", intent on the tone, what the next note might be, what quality it'll have, and that changes with picking technique, pickup selection, amp and effects gain structure, effects, etc. I only notice the guitar's colour when I'm not playing because the sonic palette grabs my attention so much more.

My initial prefernce is for a solid colour - cos I'm a solid kinda guy lol ;)
I'm a big lover of Black guitars - but I don't have a black outlook.
I also like playing my JP6 Mystic Dream - it's a bit rough around the edges - just like my playing!!

In a word No. I only have one Ball and its black LOL. Selling my other main go to guitar as "I can do it all on one black ball". Note how the poetry just flows.:)

If colors, flames and quilts had anything to do with tone or how you play a Stradivarius wouldn't be worth crazy money that they are.
