I recently found this SR4 on craigslist and contacted the seller about it. It is located in CA so it will need to be shipped. The seller cant do paypal because its a personal account and cant go over $500. The seller has been pretty responsive with my e-mails and has sent me pics. I will need to send a USPS money order for the amount of the bass and then it will be shipped. Should I proceed with this? I just dont want to get the shaft after sending out over $800 to a stranger! What do you think?

Ain't there any kind of "cash on delivery" facility in any shipping or postal service ? Could be a solution : you only pay when the parcel is in your hands.

You might also consider asking him for the S/N of the bass. The EBMM team can confirm the bass specs according to the S/N, and as far as I remember they hold a list of stolen EBMM instruments.

Do I follow the first link in the thread and find "about" where it would be?

You could send him the PayPal in two separate payments. One of $400 and one of $450, or whatever two figures you two decide on. PayPal will consider it like two transactions. The only problem is that they will take out two fees from his account. But it will be less than if you sent him one payment of $850. Just a suggestion he may be open to.
