I just play songs I know, or learn new ones by trying to figure out the bass line, then listen to CD to see how close I came. I'm in the "if you can sing it, you can play it" camp. Scales, practice logs, etc., seems too much like work to me, and I work enough hours, so when I pick up my bass, I want it to be fun. Then again, I know those things would ultimately help, but there's only so many hours in a day.

I read all bass notation I can find. Try to hear each note I read in time and pitch. Then pick up the bass and turn on the metronome and see if I actually heard what I read.

Goofing off I just play every triad I can find on the neck.

I just play when someone is on a guitar.

LOL it has become apparent to me that I don't know how to practice. :)
