Hello my bassist brothers & sisters:
I'm moderating the bass forums at MusicGearReview.com: Guitar, Bass, Drums, Recording, Synth, and Other Musical Instrument Reviews.. If you're unfamiliar with the site, the name pretty much says it all. MGR is a site that solicits gear reviews from actual users. We also post new gear previews and announcements and have a forums section. Subject matter is not limited to one particular area: we do guitar, bass, keyboards, amps, recording, drums -- pretty much everything.
What we want to do is have quality reviews by users who know what they're talking about, not the two-word "This sucks!" reviews you see on some similar sites. We also want to generate quality discussions on any subject in the forums.
Since you are already on the EB forum, you know how it works.
Registration is free, and we're currently running a contest that could get you a gift card if you meet the criteria: basically, register and post at least one review, and be among the top posters for the month. The number of posts from each user is listed on the main forums page, so you can keep track. As of 1/27/10, the lowest posters are at 2, so if you register and make 3 posts, you're already ahead of the game. The value of the gift card depends on the number of reviews we get in January. Right now it's at $110.
I know this is late notice, but we plan to run similar contests throughout the year, so this isn't your last chance.
We're not trying to compete with other forum sites: the idea is to develop a community and establish a reputable database of gear reviews. And again, MGR is not limited to bass players only.
OK: I know you have opinions and experience. How 'bout sharing them?
