Has anyone ever seen a flaw in the laser etching on a Majesty like this?:

Certainly only a cosmetic thing, but at the price I would expect the finish to be flawless.

Almost looks like it got buffed off? I don't know how deep the etching is, if that's possible or not.

I wonder if I sent it in, if they would sand it all off and refinish it... I would actually prefer it without the laser etching :)

I'll have to call and see what the options are.

Took me a minute to find what you were talking about.

I'm guessing it's what has been mentioned above, a little too aggressive with the finishing.

Too bad you didn't notice it at the store, you probably could have negotiated a discount. Granted, I don't think I would have noticed it either. It's one of those things you don't see until you've had it a little while.

Unfortunately, I could not see it ahead of time. I had to order it.

I'm in contact with support, so we'll figure something out. I just was wondering if anyone else had seen something similar.

Took me a few solid minutes to find what I think you're talking about.... just behind the bridge, about the width (if that) of an eighth of a carbon fiber check?

Is that it? Did I find the flaw? You should DEFINITELY call Customer Service about this; to save them some time diagnosing the issue, make sure to either use a Sharpie to circle the area in question, or a pocket knife to carve a border around the area in question...

Support is on it. Between them and my dealer, we are working out the best course of action. My post was not meant to be a call for support in lieu of contacting EB. More of a "this is weird... anyone seen anything like that?"

thanks.

Wow,
Instead of admitting the QC error (which can happen in a big company) and using this opportunity to show great customer support you post this...

Or, you could be impressed that the head of a company like EBMM is paying attention at all to a forum like this. Just saying...

*and now, Donald Trump's response to the "laser etching incident"*
"So I heard today about this issue Music Man was having with their laser etching...did you hear about this? Terrible problem...huuuge problem. Just recently happened to my pal Zesta, nothing to do with the crackers...that's just his name....but anyway he bought a beautiful Marrone Majesty, beautiful guitar...great guitar, and apparently someone over sanded the finish. I can only say that under my presidency there will be NO OVERSANDING of the top coats on the Majesty guitars. But if you elect Hillary you might not even be able to OWN a Majesty!"

He is showing great customer support ... they're directly in touch with the OP, working on it :)

It might seem like a good idea to jump on a forum and say "hey, why is xxx not working?", but all of this stuff gets indexed in search engines and sticks around forever. That can have a big negative effect on a small company, who otherwise has great customer service and resolves issues.

Every manufacturer has the odd blemish, mistake, etc. Everyone. What separates the boys from the men is how they take care of customers. I haven't seem many companies go above and beyond the way MM does. And to an earlier point, how many company CEOs are on their web forms interacting with customers? ;)

It plays incredibly awesome. Strings are a bit dead for a brand new guitar that never saw a showroom, but that is easily fixed :)

I have a resolution to this now. I shall have a couple NGDs in the near future ;-)
