Praise Report... Neck Through Ray..... who's with me :)

While I have been going mostly old school for the past few years I must say the "new" neck through Stingrays are the most radical and pleasing reinterpretation of a classic that I can recall. Lots of "redesigns" are gimmicky in my opinion and rarely improve upon the classic design... Not so here. I picked up a lovely neck through not expecting to be blown away by the tonal experience I have had. I mean it is totally a Stingray through and through but there is a sustain and clarity that is so rich. I am doing some recording in the next few months and can not wait to hear how this bass translates to the finished product.

I came here looking for pages of adulation but cant seem to find many threads on the neck throughs..... please pipe up NT folks.... love to hear others experiences with strings, amps ect regarding the NT Rays.

OK, can anyone tell me how the preamp differs from the bolt on basses?

You need to do that, that man is a beast, I'm not a country guy by any stretch but my wife is, and back in the day she bought the hot apple pie cd that he was apart of and there's a tune on it called I think "the shape i'm in" that has this crazy fast intro and bass solo in the middle and its all so fast and clean, I swear that track has to be sped up! I finally got to where I could at least play that intro every once in a while without too much flub, but it takes everything I got to do it!

He's been playing in a rock trio in town here for 6 years. He is going to Branson MO as a guitar player at the end of the month sadly for us. He was one of my heroes as a young bass player. I moved to his home town via the US Army band and we have become good friends.... he is truly a humble and wonderful human being not to mention a superior musician.... and a Stingray Fanatic and a EBMM endorser.

Thats awesome! Ask him to release an isolated track of that bass line that I mentioned on youtube. That riff has been driving me nuts for 10 years!

I guess that would be easier to do on bass than on guitar. I toured on crew of an artist who played guitar that way. Always blew my mind. Easier to find the model guitar you want that way, though!

I have a NT StingRay, but as it's my first Bass, I have nothing to compare it to.
I like it a lot!

Yeah Jack the opportunity just kinda fell into my lap and was like SURE! It exceeded all my expectations and is truly a hifi sounding ,Ray. The finger style kills. Cuts through the mix and shines. Played it on my gig last night and I could feel the bass in my chest. But crystal clear. This will be a gem of a bass for a long time to come. Getting Chuck's Classic Sabre on Wednesday. EBMM gear ho status deactivated. ��

I have never played a neck-through Stingray, but my most recent 3 EBMM guitars, an Armada and two Majesties, have been neck-through and have convinced me that neck-through is where it's at in terms of amazing tone, resonance, and sustain.

If EBMM ever do a neck-through Sterling HH, I will be ecstatic.

NT owner here. Bought that white/blue mist Summer NAMM SR4 one-off. I've owned several Stingrays in the past. None of them sings like this one does. Not sure if it is just this particular bass or all NT's are the same way. Clarity, feel, etc. It is just an amazing instrument.
