Are MM models with the preamp like the L3 and Majesty considered active or passive? The Helix has a standard guitar input as well as an auxiliary input for active electronics. Trying to figure this thing out
Thanks

Thanks DrKev.

I did find out to use the regular input, and there is an auto-impedance setting, so we are good to go on this issue!

...the adventure continues

Using Helix for live?

Not yet. I am a far way off, but the goal is to in the future. I just got it two weeks ago and have had precious little time to do anything at all with it other than read a little and flip through some presets.

Do you use one?

My FA AX8 sounded great with my regreted LukeIII. Bet the Helix will be great as well. Have fun tweaking Mike. Sounds you are looking for are in this box.

Thanks very much. I gotta pickup up a powered speaker before I start getting to involved. Been doing some research on that.

I use mine with my studio monitors and I'm really pleased though they are a pair of cheap Tannoys. But they allow me to send the Ax8 to their xlr input and the mini jack from my computer to one of the speaker, then link the speakers together. This dual input system is cheap, easy, effective.

I have used mine with a Yamaha DXR12 for about a year. It works well. I just ordered a TC FX150 to try and make the rig even more compact. 100% converted and not looking back. Really great rigs.

I have read that a lot of Helix users like that monitor. Do you use it live?

I keep seeing ALTO TS210 and EV ZLX-12 pop up too.

I do use it live. I like it a lot. It has a matte finish that scratches very easily (if that matters to you) but other than that it's a great monitor. I will let you know next week how the TC unit sounds. That would be the ultimate in portability if it sounds good.

Also, Mikeller, check out the patches by Glenn DeLaune. He's put a ton of work into them and they sound fantastic. I've bought every one he's put out to date.

Hey - I've got a Majesty and a Helix. I plug straight into the regular input, not the aux one. I actually use a Y-splitter and to have the Piezo and Magnetic pickups on separate inputs. I plug the piezo side into Return 1 of the Helix and use acoustic IRs to sweeten the piezo sound. Sounds amazing.

It's from RoadCasesUSA.com. Very reasonable and durable. I had to buid a 1" platform for the Helix so that it'd be the right height. I just took a piece of 1"x12" pine and cut it to size then covered the whole thing with Velcro.
