This one isn't coming up in the database, is there any chance the serial number could be something different?

that is the correct serial number on neckplate G02596. does this mean it is a fake?

This StingRay 5 was completed on December 2nd, 2008. The color is Black with the Rosewood fretboard. It was originally shipped to Counts Bros Music.

Thanks for checking. As Bert mentioned, it's most likely an early one from 1986. The serial number database didn't come around until the late 1980s after Ernie Ball took over the company. The earliest serial number I've seen in the database is from 1987, but the StingRay began production under the Ernie Ball Music Man name in 1984 so there are a few years we don't have production records for. There may be a date in the neck pocket, on the neck heel or in the pickup cavity that will give you an idea of the production time. You can also compare to similar serial number on the http://musicmanbass.org/mycustompage0053.htm website. Sorry we don't have more information for you.

Thanks for getting back with that information. The Axis EX models were never inputed into our serial number database. We shipped the bodies, necks & parts to Kanda Shokai (our Japanese distributor) to assemble, setup and sell these in Japan. They are authentic from our factory, but setup by Kanda Shokai so the serial numbers were never inputed into the database.

Chasing the DOB for my Stingray 4 (E24219)

This StingRay 3EQ was completed on July 31st, 2001. The color is Translucent Gold with the Maple neck & matching headstock. It was originally shipped to Sojin Co. Inc.

Howdy. I may have asked previously but I couldn't find the answer on the thread. Look for info on an unlined fretless Sterling 5 in Black Cherry Burst with matching headstock: F25871.

Hey Joel!

I finally scored a BFR redwood-top Stingray 4! Serial # E55991. Would love to know the DOB and any other details you have on this one.

Also, please, info on a 25th Anniversary HSS 5-string, #F26026, with rosewood fingerboard. Details on this one, too, please?
