Hi guys,

I'm trying to move deeper into 7 strings world and I'm looking for Sterling JP157 and JP70 guitars.
Unfortunately I have no possibility to test any of those where I live, so I would like to ask the ones that know these models whether there is any other difference between the two, except active pickups on 157, for playability, sound, components (tremolo), construction quality

Thx.

I can only speak for the JP70 and compare it to a BFR JP7. What I will say is I was blown away by the quality of the JP70 for the price. I have yet to replace the pickups in it yet because something about it as is just sits right with me. Fantastic fit and finish on mine, the locking tuners hold up rock solid, trem works great. If this is going to be your first foray into JP guitars and you're looking for a player, the JP70 is fantastic. A pickup 'upgrade' would get you very close to the real thing.

Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it. I'm slightly biased to 70 (TPB :)) so I'm glad to read your post.
One question though... Any thought about mahogany vs basswood body? I'm more interested by sustain...
EDIT: one more question: in specs is stated the neck radius is 16". Is it fixed or compound radius?

If you want to purchase a 'hot-rodded' model, contact Pete at DuBaldo Music in CT. He's been doing fantastic sanctioned mods to them since 2013 and provides excellent customer service/experience.

Do you know the saying "While two dogs are fighting for a bone, a third runs away with it"? Finally I decided to rise the bar a little bit and go for Sterling Majesty Maj170x ADR. I placed the order today, the countdown has begun... looks the time is running much slower now :) Thank you all for your input. Nice to have such awesome community.
