Question Worn fret board

Hi All. I'm brand new here and had a question for who know more about guitars then me. I have a Gibson cl 35 deluxe I bought new in 1998. After near 25 years of playing, my fret board has warn to the point the wood itself has indentations in it just above the frets. Also the frets them self have dents in them from the strings. My question is, is there any advantage to repairing this? And if so do I dare tackle it myself?

Do NOT tackle this yourself. Indentations in the wood are usually left alone, they are part of the patina/charm of a well-played instrument. The fret wear is something will happen over time and is normal but if as it progresses it can cause problems with string buzz or tuning in some positions. Depending on the height of the fret and the amount of wear they might be levelled and re-crowned but a full refret of the neck could also be required too. Ask around your area (at guitar stores, guitar teachers, musicians etc.) to recommend a good guitar tech or luthier.

Definitely sounds like it's due for a refret, or at least a level and crown. If you have worn visible divots, as well as worn indentations in the fretboard, that means it is definitely overdue. Also light want to look into making sure your fretting hand fingernails are always trimmed, or maybe using a lighter touch when playing.
