My Frost Green Pearl EBMM Stingray Special

arrived at 10:15am this morning. I work til 7pm. The waiting is the hardest part (wasn't there a song about that?) Anyway, I have a Ray34 but my dream bass was an EBMM Stingray Special. Sweetwater worked with me to get the right bass and now, I just get to play the hell out of it. I know it ships with EB 45-100's (at least that was what the site said) Any other strings I should check out or should I stay within the EB family? Anyway, this is my dream bass and should be with me until I die. I look forward to all the info and reading I can do on this forum.

Congrats on your new Bass. You'll have to post some pics.

I've tried all the EB string gauges but find the stock roundwounds (45-100) the best.

Man, that color/finish is one of my absolute favorites. Green is my favorite color so I love any shade of green guitar/bass-- but Frost Green Pearl is so pretty-- especially with that burst. Congrats!

Thanks...it is so pretty I am scared to scratch it by being clumsy. I played it last night and it is so much better than my Sterling Ray34 in outright build quality. I now understand why EBMM cost more than SBMM. SBMM makes great product. EBMM is just on another level. I was never comfortable with my Ray34 because of the scooped beveled ledge on the edge of the pickup where I tend to plant my thumb. My thumb would slide down. The Stingray Special does not have that bevel and lets me dance my thumb around easily. Dang, I love this bass!!!

Congrats! I'm not primarily a bass player but I have a few for home recording. The Stingray Special is a lot more versatile than I thought it would be and gets far more use than the others.

Since you asked about strings and things. I typically tune to E♭ and have a Hipshot extender for drop C# so I use 45-105 gauge sets.

A lot of my favorite players use EB strings but I tend to lean towards D'Addario NYXL. I recently got a Cutlass Bass and the seller had Dunlop Super Brights that I'm kind of liking. I picked up a set for the next Stingray change to see how they work out. The Cutlass will probably get some flatwounds on the next go round.

For heavy stuff I love Justin Chancellor's tone. He supposedly uses Slinky Cobalt 45-105 sets.
