I’m looking for a cutlass and not sure which one . I kind of want a simple one with just a maple neck and rosewood board. However the roasted neck ones look good too. I’ve found a few older ones that are a good price and a couple new ones that are a decent price also. So torn on this one. The only thing I know I want is three single coils.

Yeah a little bit , just getting rid of stuff I don’t use for guitars I know I will use.
I have a 1973 ish les Paul deluxe that I bought really cheap and restored it was a mess. I thought I would love it in the end and I hate it . The weight, the neck. So I’m sick of having things around I don’t use. Not sure what to do with the les Paul yet. It looks great but the serial number was not on it when I got it so I had a veneer put on and they stamped a new serial number , so it will be hard to sell I think.

Wow that sucks, good luck on selling that one.

Are you looking for a new or used Cutlass?

It’s a difficult choice because they are all so nice. I think you will be happy with whichever you end up with. You could have some fun with it and buy the one that gets the most votes in this thread.

Blue with maple is the one with the most votes right now. I do like that one a lot

Given the options I voted white on maple (we’re probably watching the same listing). I’ve got and had a few Cutlasses, you really can’t go wrong. Maybe it’s just my experience, but the SSS has a more dramatic V to C carve whereas the HSS is similar but thicker and more subtle. Either way, exceptionally comfortable guitars that sound great and play even better. Throw one of them into a Princeton or Deluxe and you’ve got a stew going.

A student of mine had a blue one. It's a beautiful color in person. Personally, I don't like the "vintage yellow" tinted varnish on maple necks (on any brand of guitar) so if you can find one with a roasted neck, even better, because you'll have the oil and wax finish instead. The roasted necks are just lovely, even if it has no flame or figuring to speak of.

You make a good point about the vintage tint versus the roasted maple with the good old oil rub. So, I just changed my vote.
