So what do we think of this one? I decided that having just one Silo Special was unfair to the one Silo Special I have, what with the interchangeable pickguard assemblies and all, and this one became available yesterday and got my attention pretty quickly. Woke up this morning and the fever remained so I made a deal and bought it. Another 2001 in Las Vegas Gold in what appears to be in exceptional shape for a 23 YO instrument. And am told all original except for perhaps the pickguard, which I don't find offensive and may actually be better suited for my Pearl Blue SS. Not a lot of info on this color but it struck me as special, made even more so by the matching painted headstock. Also hard to find values for these as the pricing seems all over the place, and especially during a time when so much is so stupidly priced.

Anyway, this is it, on the way today. I welcome any additional info one might have on this one.

I saw that when it was listed and would have gone for it, but I prefer a Silo (non-Special) over the Special. But it's a sweet looking guitar! Enjoy!

Gorgeous guitar! Congrats!

Here's what your Pearl Blue will look like with that pickguard (I'm actually replacing this one with a fire opal when I can ever get around to it.)

Thanks for this and it's exactly the one I had in mind when I started thinking about the possibilities with swatting those PG assemblies. The aged pearl/white pickups and knobs on my current Pearl Blue might look fantastic on the Vegas Gold color. And I think I prefer the black/gray on blue shown here. We shall see!

I thought about the aged pearl for my Pearl Blue but ultimately went with the fire opal (now I just need to stop being lazy and replace it).

Great Guitar!
I have a similar SS - Las Vegas Gold; Rosewood board; hardtail; non painted headstock; but its been a workhorse and definitely lost that sparkle and shine that yours has! (see recent pic)

I was previously told that this might have been a guitar center exclusive back in the day - so assuming your's might be too?

Another thing - your guitar should have the Dimarzio "C3" humbucker - which Dimarzio have advised is similar to the Air Classic but "The C3 has a little more output. The Air Classic has a little more treble response."

Thank you for the info. I had assumed that all of this model from the period would have had the same pickups and my 2001 blue Silo Special also has the Dimarzio "C3 humbucker" you mentioned. Silo Humbucker.jpg
