I have a L3HH and L4 HH and the L3 is a lot brighter on mine, but I'm not sure if that is the L3 pickups, the Alder or both causing this. (I am leaning on thinking it's the L3 pickups.) The Okoume wood on the L4 sustains more, is darker with a fuller sound and punchier. I prefer the cleans on the L3 and the overdriven soaring leads on the L4.

my impression as well. I was almost ready to say the L4 bridge humbucker has some EMG81 EQ flavour to my ears which probably means more flat/full EQ curve

Just finishing up installing stainless med/jumbo on my L4 Steamroller. No doubt though I have been thinking about getting this one as well! The colour is amazing! I’m just not as much a fan of the birdseye necks.

It would be cool to see/hear a comparison of the L3 Transition vs L4 pickups, in a guitar with the same wood especially. I have always been curious how they compare.

Stupid question from me.... - Do they still have soft V profile necks? - I sold my original Dargie Luke because of that, but I love the Luke shape and tones.

Yes, but it seems a little softer to me. But that could just be I am used to it. But usually when I pick up an L1 or L2 I'm like "Whoa! This V..." But L3 less bad and L4 less bad. But still there no doubt there's a soft V.

Agreed! My L4 Steamroller soft V barely feels like it compared to previous models. You notice it is a bit different when you first pick it up but nothing extreme at all. Just a great feeling and playing neck!

Thanks Guys, - I think I want to try one, it's good they are maybe a little less pronounced than the L2's but it's gotta be right.... next challenge finding UK stock !
