As the summer is heading to a close and fall ushers in I got one last set of strings to give out. A wonderful set of Power Slinky4's in a beautiful purple sleeve. The person that can best tell me how power slinkys have changed or will change their lives gets 'em. And... begin.

(all the usual rules apply. All decisions final.)

Power slinkys are amazing strings. The phat bottom end makes your sound absolutely HUGE (GREAT on Bongos). Their thickness gives them great sustain and just makes you get the stankface all over.

Do I win? :D

Power Slinky's pulled me out of a burning vehicle just before it burst into flames and spewed toxic fumes 100 feet in every direction. Then they proceeded to administer CPR and tend to my 3rd degree burns. Afterwards, I built a small shrine to Power Slinky's where I worship every day, and all of my prayers have been answered from that day forward.

Oh, wait... that wasn't me.

True story. I was driving home from rehearsal one night when I realized that I'd forgotten my pedal bag. As I pulled up to the rehearsal space the guitarist was lowering the steel entrance door, and as I wasn't quick enough, it caught my right arm right across the fleshy part. Pretty nasty cut. Anyway, being deathly afraid of doctors and hospitals, I decided to ask the guitarist (a McGyver clone) if he'd take care of it. I pulled a new set of Power Slinky's from my gigbag and handed them over. Using the G-string and a pair of needle nosed pliers, he closed up the wound and sent me on my way. In case anybody's worried about infection, he did pour two shots of Bicardis over the wound. Anyway, all is well, and except for the nasty scar, I'm no worse for wear.

Power Slinkys, unlike the original Slinky, can power themselves up a flight of stairs, which would just scare the hell out of me, frankly.

Wow! I think I read about that on the innernet! So it MUST be true! :D

I bought a set once and the family had to confine their activities to the basement. It is scary indeed! :D

Back in 1942, I was fighting side by side with a set of power slinky's in WWII, battling nazi's and the like.

When suddenly a shell comes down right next to me and explodes, rendering me deaf, blind, and without most of my legs. The Power slinky had been behind an outcropping of rocks at just the right moment, so they remained unscathed.

"RUN! Leave me! save yourself!" I screamed to Power Slinky.

"NO! I'VE NEVER LOST A MAN AND I'M NOT STARTING NOW!" was their only response.

The power slinkys picked me up and carried me two hundred yards through mine fields and flying bullets to get me back to safety. Only to find that the doctor had been destroyed by stray bullet.

The power slinky's, seeing that I was in a bad state, ripped part of himself free of his packaging to use as a tourniquet on my leg.

"Don't! I'm not worth it, you should save yourself!" I pleaded, seeing the pain it caused him to literally tear himself apart.

"Shut up! That's an order! You take this this and you go home son! You go and when your kids and grand kids ask their pappy to tell them about the war. You tell them about power slinky... You tell them that there is good in string kind, that once in a while.....the good guys can win!"

I never saw power slinky again after that day, he sat by me until i fell asleep during a lull in the shelling. When i awoke he was gone, some say he sacrificed himself to save another dumb kid in over his head. I like to think that to be true. Regardless, I kept my promise, and I shall never forget power slinky and everything he did for me. I owe him my life.

Love and kisses

Power Slinkys changed my life because they allowed me to join my first gigging band (whoo-hoo)! Not long after acquiring my first MM bass (Stingray4), an event I actually believed could never happen, and doing my usual playing along to CDs, I finally decided it was time to "get out there". I searched the net for "bass player wanted" ads in my area, and got a response from this local band to meet up for a jam. They sent me a CD and their material sounded great, so it was really daunting practicing for my first ever try-out. The guitarist informed me that he tuned down to C. I'd never deviated from regular tuning before, so I made the necessary adjustments on the bass but my Super Slinkys were just too damned floppy for the job. I got a little worried (newbie), so I did the obvious thing of consulting this forum, and found some threads suggesting a heavier gauge string set might do the trick. I sought out some Power Slinkys, restrung and re-set-up the bass, and life was good! The E string remained tight, I learned the songs on the CD, and went to the rehearsal session and blew the band away (low standards, ha-ha). :) The guitarist said he'd never heard a bass sound so "meaty", he was really digging the Stingray sound. So I left the place feeling pretty good about how everything went, even if I didn't get the gig. I received a call later that night that I was in, and they had already booked some gigs, that was how confident they were after hearing me play their tunes. So a year later I'm still in that band, and still rockin' the original set of Power Slinkys (for good luck?) but I think the bass probably deserves a new set. So kudos to Power Slinkys, the string that allows us downtuners to do what we do (without buying a 5 string set and reshaping the nut slots)!
