I LOVE the DiMarzio Evolution!

I also love the EMG 81... that's right, I said it, the 81!

Ill second the duncan distortion, more versatile than you think but they are tight and sweet and sound great in strat style and LP stlye guitars, you need trembucker spacing if you go the duncan route -

DiMarzio Tone Zone in bridge, Air Norton in the Neck. Love that combo. Very close to the Axis pups at least to my ear.

The ones in the Axis SS. The ones in my JP. Don't know about D-Sonic. Haven't tried it yet. I bet I would like Humbucker From Hell, but I haven't tried that one yet either.

I've gotten hooked on Golden Age pickups. They have a great overwound humbucker, and it works great in alot of my single humbucker guitars. Price point isn't bad either.

The Tone Zone/Air Norton combo is killer. I've swapped those in one of my two humbucker setups, and I can nail my Axis tone (or at least pretty darn close).

I'm telling you. Swap out the Axis Neck pickup with a Humbucker from Hell and you will LICK your guitar it sounds so good. BUT, it will give you a hardcore single coily sound, if you don't want that, don't go with this pickup.

Arghh. These threads always go exactly the same way ... everybody has a brand of pickups they like. And nobody's tried them all ...
