Absolutely superb concert and DVD - my wife and I haven't stopped watching it or playing the DT CDs since it arrived.

The orchestral set is electrifying (S&M it ain't) and the orchestra plays majestically.

The documentary and extras are good

Oh and it was so inspiring that I've bought 2 EBMM Petrucci's since watching...:)

I commented on the CD earlier but I have now lived with it for a couple of weeks, listening to it constantly. I have to say that the playing on this album reaches new standards for me. I am stunned by how good these guys sound live and how they can pull off some very technically challenging material almost perfectly. I have never liked bands with orchestras but this is very well done and the arrangements have been put together with a great deal of care and skill. I do still find the recording quality lacking on the CD, although a little EQ made things better for me. I think I will pick up the DVD becuase I suspect that the 5.1 mix is better.

This is the first live DT album that made we listen carefully to what the keyboard player is doing. I have never really liked his choices of sounds but, for some reason, he really stands out on this recording. JP is amazing as always and I think this represents the best tone I have ever heard him getting. I wish I could hear more of John Myung but it is hard with this mix. Portnoy is just fantastic, perfect timekeeping yet always interesting.

Did I say that I liked this album?

Get the DVD - the 5.1 mix is awesome - you can hear every nuance of the playing and each of their contributions so clearly.

The Octavarium intro by Jordan on the Continuum is spine-chilling...

But that's the way almost all of their live recordings have been. You can never have too much Myung, but you never get enough.

Anybody know if it is possible to get a hold of any other Majesty recordings (in addition to Another Won)?

I thought the orchestra was out of tune in some places though.
Well...yeah...as has been pointed out, it was probably a pretty loud environment there. Plus, give the strings some slack. Man, those are all fretless instruments. :D

Bad luck I suppose :(

I actually thought it was pretty strange that JB up here sold Live at Budokan for $46 (album and DVD), but sold Score for $30.

Don't get me started on the Once in A Livetime DVD... that's nearly $55 here!

LAB is still my favorite DVD of theirs, but Score is #2. I wasn't necessarily fond of the set list until I watched it a bit, then reintroduced me to some of the songs I didn't listen too much to. Raise the Knife and some of the other Majesty songs sounded great!

Overall was a great dvd and I'm happy I picked it up!

Just to clear this up, the only Majesty song was Another Won. Raise the Knife was an outtake from the Falling Into Infinity sessions, and all of the other songs were on Dream Theater albums.

My bad, I'm not too smart when it comes to their history. Nonetheless, still awesome songs! :D

I thought it was more the horns that went out.

I think it's more a matter of fretted instruments not intonating right really.

Play your guitar with a keyboardist sometime. Even with a compensated nut it's still not quite spot on.

You have to use one of the tuning systems for it to be just right I think.

All in all though, great DVD. I think it's easily their best sounding live performance compared to previous releases.

Wonder if it was doctored at all.

I hope not! :D
