I should add to the previous post. The Silo was (still is?) hanging up high to the rear of the store. I asked the guy if I could see it and he called it a 'PRS copy' (I have a PRS and the silo blows it away, trying to sell it). This after the Edina store guy told me that EBMM was not going to come out with the new JP. They went 0 for 2 as far as I'm concerned.
I walked out of the store.

How good is the Albert Lee??

I've never had the chance to play one and you guys seem to rave over them. I've been considering selling my Strat for ages (fitted with Kinman Blues - I prefer the darker/mid output Strat sound) so I'll be interested to know how it compares.

I know in terms of playability the MM will be far better but what about tonally?

On behalf of Guitar Center, I would like to apologise both to "surrealforreal" and Ernie Ball for the apparently low level of product knowledge in these two stores. I will look into it.

In the meantime, if you have any additional insight, or questions regarding our Music Man guitar and bass offerings, please contact me directly via the forum.

Many thanks,

Michael Doyle

Are you guys planning to post some stills and some video footage during the Dallas bash so all of us can enjoy watching you guys? Sounds like a blast..wish I played guitar instead of the fourstring mini version.

Dude -

Don't give up on that store or guitar! I have played it and it is special. I used to work there and know exactly who you should talk to. Give me a PM if interested - I know I can get you hooked up right!!!!

Great to see your involvement. I undertstand GC's dilemma and I don't really want to bash them, even though it comes across that way. Upselling works on the browsing customer but it's risky with the person who knows what they are looking for, especially with someone as EBMM biased as I have recently become :)

Anyhow, it's good to see that you care!

but he is still buying at Willies and Im fine with that....does willy have one?

You can check your records - Willie's hasn't had a new EBMM in stock in years.

AND surealforreal - if you want a 20th Silo - remember - you can no longer order those.

An AL SSS will not sound like a Strat fitted with Kinmanns. I was playing a Strat with Kinmanns about an hour ago and thought "no thanks" "not for me" but the owner of the guitar loves them and that's what matters. They are much darker sounding than the AL which is voiced so much differently. You will get a great blues sound out of the AL.
(I've yet to try an AL with MM90's though, but that may change.)

Had I waited 10 more minutes to see your replies...I would have saved over 2 hours of f$%#ing time!!! Willies is over an hour away...and now I look like an a$$.
This is why it says 'newbie' under my name....
