I think tort would look GREAT on that, but you should consider abalone on it as well... :)
Good suggestion... could someone also put an abalone guard on it as well?

Oh yeah, I have a little question... is there anything under the Sterling pickguard? And wires or anything like that? Or is it purely for show?

Thanks,
Graeme

I believe there's nothing under it, but I'm not sure, as I don't own a Sterling. I think the only basses that have anything hidden under the pickguard are the HS models, with the dummy coil under it.

To answer your question, here is my old sterling H:

No routes whatsoever!
:D

My HS sterling does not have dummy coils under the pickguard, the stingray's however do.

Looks great!

Some pickguards can be directly ordered from EB or through an EB dealer. There are also lots of websites and eBay sellers offering after-market PGs. In the case of white pearloid, you can order those from EB directly, as well as the others shown below:

The request has been filled!

I like it.

Alright so I'm gonna order the tort probably. I can't really tell from the small size of the picture, but I think the black abalone might clash with the gold. The tort spices up the look, without being gaudy, IMO.

Would you say that particular colour in this picture would classify as standard tort or red tort?

This is where I'm ordering from, and they offer both colours: http://www.wdmusic.com/ernie_ball_musicman_sterling_13548_ctg_2.htm

Also, am I correct in saying that both gold pearl and green pearl would look tacky on this bass?

Thanks,
Graeme

Can someone explain this?

It was confirmed by someone from EB before. The SH SRs have the actual dummy coil in between the pickups and underneath the PG. It works, but both the pickup and electronics weren't voiced for its use. I bleeb the Sterlings already have a dummy coil to begin with, so another dummy coil wasn't required when designing the dual pickup Sterlings.

ooo good call! Been thinking about getting a paisley PG or at least some paisley fabric to put underneath by clear Bongo PG for some time now. :p
