in their movie there were clips where you saw that these dudes have a ton of gear.

On "Some Kind Of Monster", they showed their guitar room in their studio/headquaters. They had somewhere in the ballpark of 600-800 guitars from various builders/manufacturers.
In fact, they showed Rob Trujillo jamming with them on a 5 string Stingray/Sterling (don't know the basses as well, but I can spot the EBMM pickguard from a mile away).

The Rush In Rio DVD has a "Boys in Brasil" documentary in which Big Al is warming up on an Axis-DANG!!! Why don't these "PRS" bigshots convert to EBMM!!
I saw a band last night with my kid and the guitarist was using a nice PRS. My kid says, "Don't you wish you were playing that PRS?" and I said, "I wish I were playing my Axis!!"

I think most endorsement deals are kind of vague anyway.
I'm sure Kirk and James can play whatever they want with little to no repercussions.
