Hey,

I'm currently still saving up for my first stingray bass and for a while have been thinking that when i finish saving (am nearly there!) that i would get a stingray 3EQ vintage sunburst with a maple neck. however recently i have been seeing a finish on a few basses and i must say i rly rly do like it quite alot. It looks alot like the finish on the 30th anniversary but im not sure what its called. if you wanna see an example of the bass then check out a video of a guy playing one here:

i thought it might be a rolls burgundy, but im not sure.

thanks guys!

How about candy red. It's not trans red because I can't see any grain.

Going by the instrument building page....(candy red)

i wasnt sure whether it was candy red either. It could be, but the candy red in the picture seems to bright for the finish in the video, and i dont think its trans red cuz i cant see any grain marks on it at all

Wheres BP when you need him, i'd say its a safe bet he'd know.

It's Ernie Ball's earlier version of "Trans Red" which is like the Trans Crimson finish on the new 30th Anniversary Basses. The Bass depicted is a circa 1995.

Since then, the Trans Red has become more vivid/brighter.

i love you

but this complicates matters sadly, because i rly have become attatched to that finish but am too late to be able to get a 30th anniversary look-alikeand me thinks it might be hard to come across one of that finish used on ebay that also happens to ship to australia.

If you look at the comments on that video, he says he's thinking about selling it. Shoot him an email, or post a comment about it. Maybe you'll get lucky!

If you want a 30th Ann. I know a few stores here in Melbourne that have them still available - not cheap though

yhe i found a store or 2 in australia that is selling the 30th anniversary, but its bloody $<A LOT> !!!! where as if i can manage to find one from the US that ships worldwide i could prolly get it for around $**** AU (a few thousand cheaper), but i dont rly feel that comfortable buying something that expensive over the internet, where if something goes wrong it could be very hard to get it sorted out.

but damn those 30th anniversary rays look good!

are they still in production, does anyone know?
