Yesterday, I closed a deal on a 20th Anniversary Silhouette G27253. I went to Make'N Music in Chicago while I was in The Windy City for a conference. Supposedly, they were going to send the guitar out today, and I'm supposed to receive it tomorrow.

Here she is in photos taken by Make'N Music.

More to come after she arrives.

I'm usually more of a quilt guy, but heck...this guitar looked phenomenal to me. I figured that I had a known quantity in that guitar. I knew how it felt and how it sounded, and I loved it. She came. I saw. She conquered. To paraphrase a friend, I couldn't leave her there. :D

That's a great one. I've been looking at that one for a while to ease my waiting for mine. Like NorM said, that's a great combo :). Take plenty of pics of your own once you have her, and compare her to your JP. Would like to know how you feel about that :D.

I had the pleasure of being there when roburado was testing that guitar. He played 2 chords and all I could do was drool.... BP wasn't lying when he said its the best sounding guitar they've produced! As good as the pics are, they still don't do it justice. Even the back of the guitar is gorgeous. All said, it is a great score. :D

Diggin the 20th - very flamey

I just don't get why someone would place a guitar face down on a hardwood floor:confused:

Yeah...You know...I was wondering about that. Well, it seems like it's just fine.

Thanks for the congratulations, everyone.

Since I knew I was going to be in Chicago, I just knew I had to go to Make'N Music to see it. That's a great store, and I heartily recommend them. I like the little amp rooms they have. You get to try the guitar and amp behind closed doors. Two of them, as a matter of fact. So, people out in the store won't have to hear you, and you won't have to hear them. There is one main door to the amp rooms. Then, there are three small rooms in which you can try guitars. They asked me if I wanted to try the guitar through specific amp. I told them I have an F-30. They set me up with an F-100. There were a lot of "Oh $#!+" moments when I was trying the guitar out. Just incredible. BP says the 20th is their best-sounding guitar. Well, it's the best-sounding guitar I've played. Definitely. It made me forget that I'm more of a fan of quilts, but man, the voice on this thing is awesome. The clean just blew me away. Warm, deep, clear. With distortion, man it just sings. It's just sick! Can't wait to get it out of the box here at home. Hopefully, it will really arrive tomorrow.

Other guitars I tried there at M'nM were the Silo Spec and Y2D. Definite must-haves.

If you love the 20th Silo 1/10 as much as I love this guitar, you'll be in heaven. I was late to the airport today, almost missed a flight, because I was playing the 20th through my Dr. Z and couldn't stop.:D

Man, just trying the guitar in the store, it was difficult to put it down. I had to make a conscious effort to stop, because I wanted to try the Y2D and the Silo Spec. If I had time, I would have tried the Silo and the Luke, which I never seem to get to try through an amp I like. Unfortunately, we got to the store at 4pm, and they were going to close at 5pm. Just wasn't enough time. Then, when I went to buy the 20th, I only had like 20-30 minutes to try the guitar again and then do the transaction.

That's a great one. I've been looking at that one for a while to ease my waiting for mine. Like NorM said, that's a great combo :). Take plenty of pics of your own once you have her, and compare her to your JP. Would like to know how you feel about that :D.

The 20th vs. the JP. Well, in the limited amount of time I had with the 20th, it was pretty clear that the JP has more of an edge. It also sounds a little more compressed at times too. The 20th definitely has a smoother voice. The 20th's clean is unreal. I almost didn't pull the trigger, because I thought that it sounded so good that I ought to have it with a piezo. However, I thought, I know what this guitar sounds and feels like, and I love it. I didn't want to take the chance that I'd like a piezo-equipped version as much, less, more, etc. This 20th is awesome as is, and I wanted to go with a known quantity. Anyway, I'm getting off the track. The 20th just has a great clarity to it with either pickup. It also has a very open sound that has a great depth and warmth to it. It just reminded me of Scarlett Johannson's voice, strangely enough. That's just how it made me feel when I heard it. Playing it through distortion, it just sings mellifluously. Smooth. Creamy. Buttery.

The JP doesn't have a voice quite like that. At least, mine doesn't. It definitely has that metal edge to it. I'm definitely more comfortable on the JP, but that's what I'm used to. The fretboard is wider, and I'm more comfortable with it. After all, I've been playing that guitar for 3 years now. The difference isn't so great that it's difficult for me to feel comfortable on the 20th.

Anyway, those are my impressions of the 20th vs. the JP6 (both non-piezo) as of now. I can't wait for the JP Mk II. The 20th just has me convinced that the Mk II is going to be super special if and when it comes out.

I'll let you know more when the guitar and I are reunited.

The 20th certainly is an awesome number.

I'd been thinking about it again and again ever since the first photos were posted here months ago, but there just wasn't enough happening with it for me to pull the trigger and place an order. There were no GAS pangs, no mojo, nothing. I came close many, many times, but never ordered.

Then, to my great relief, the window for ordering closed. I was glad because I no longer had to struggle with the decision to buy. I'd hear about one being on ebay now and again, and I'd look and think about it, but the guitar just wasn't my thing.

Then I paid a visit to my dealer a week ago. I'd been there a month before, and he said he didn't have one on order, but lo and behold there was a real live 20th, along with a poor AL that's been hanging on the wall there for at least three years, a lefty Axis SS, a JP, and a Silo Spec. I'd always wanted to try the Silo Spec, which I did, and I picked up the JP just to try it even though I'd tried a JP before.

Saving what I thought would be the best for last, I picked up the 20th, plugged it in, and played for about 2 seconds.

The sound coming out from this instrument just blew my socks off. I knew right away that I wanted one.

Long story short, it's on its way, and I should be receiving it this week.

:D
