There's some good shopping in North Dallas too. The Galleria shopping mall and Northpark Shopping Center are not too far away. Probably only about 15 miles and there's a Guitar Center on the way from DFW to the Galleria.

How far is GC, is it open on a Sunday and do they sell good quality leather straps?

I just looked it up.
The GC is about 15 miles from the airport (the Galleria is about 2 miles past it) and it is open on Sundays from noon until 6 p.m..
I've never looked for straps in there but I'm sure they have a good selection.

BTW - The GC is very easy to get to from DFW airport. You can just ask me or any of the other local guys and we can give you directions on Saturday or print you a map.
