Hi gang, first post for me on this board...

I'm about to order myself a SR5 (very happy about that :D )

As for color I'm thinking Translucent Teal with maple fingerboad and matching headstock looked very cool on the intrument-builder.

But I'm not certain yet about the pickguard. I think the black pearloid will go great with the color, but maybe abalone would as well. Haven't been able to find pics of Trans. Teal with abalone though.

What do you guys think (and maybe someone has pics?)

PS: guys at the shop said the waiting time could be as much as 8 months... Hope they're wrong...

I think plain matt black looks really nice with trans teal - but no pics unfortunately.

I don't think 8 months is too impossible - most waiting times being quoted at the moment are about 6 months - so 8 months could certainly be around the mark when you factor shipping to Europe into the equation... sorry :(

But it's certainly worth waiting for! :D

And welcome to the forum! :)

OnlyME,

Welcome to the forum.
I have most of the EBMM pics in existence :p and there aren't any trans teal with abalone guards. That's usually a sign that it's not that good a combination.
Here's a few pics to help you with your decision. I agree with Azzy that black is a nice combination. I personally don't like the black pearl at all, but that's just me. I hope this helps. :)

Thanx for the many pics. Could you just clear one thing up for me though. Is this the black pearloid? Reason I ask is that on the instrument builder is looked much, much darker than this. Judging by the colorchart on the MM-site, I'd say this was Python...

But if this is the black perloid, than I think you guys are right. This would be a no-no, and plain black it will be then... or... you wouldn't happen to have pics of the Trans. Teal with a black ice guard, would you... :)

LOL, that's what I thought the black pearloid would look like. Me thinks maybe they got the colors mixed up in the colorchart.

Whaddaya think? Would the phyton look good on the trans. teal? Maybe I should just play it safe, order it with the standard black, and maybe buy a extra guard sometime later... I'm sure they can be purchased separately, don't they?

Anyway, thanx for the help!

Welcome Only Me,

I'm having pickguard dilemmas myself. I personally think you should go with plain black. The beauty of the trans teal finish is to see the grain pop out in the wood. If you get some pearloid or abalone pickguard I think it gets too busy and detracts from the finish.

Oh well, that's just my $0.02 but now perhaps you can see why I don't know which black to get. Perhaps the matte will accentuate the trans finish. On the other hand it may be too much contrast and the standard black would be better.

Nothing wrong with your choices, Trans Teal is beautiful, Abalone is stunning, Black Ice could also work.
Plain black is OK, but pretty boring overall.

The sooner you get on with your order, the sooner you'll get your bass.
My guess is that your wait time will be less than 8 months, but if your dealer tells you 5 months, you'll be upset if it takes a day or two longer.

An SR5 is worth however long it takes to get one; if you really want to impress yourself and have some fun, order it with piezo.

Once it arrives, you'll forget all about how long you waited; remember, babies take 9 months to hit the ground, and then you got a lot of mopping up to do ;)
