Hey, in a way you work similar to the way I work - here is one tip: get rid of the G-Major and look for a G-Force instead - you just won't believe your ears! (I had same experience for 2 years now...)

Regards, Dickie.

;)

You Know, That is exactly what my next change was going to be... ha ha ha:D
I just can't decide between the G-Force or the Eventide Eclipse.

I've posted this before, but what the heck, it shows off my balls too. :)

Weird about the 5150 cabs, I didn't care for them at all when I was cabinet shopping.

I didn't like any slant-front cabinets actually, acoustically I believe they are incorrect.

I ended up going with 2 Mesa Traditional 4x12 straights (not the big Recto fartboxes ;)).

+1...

When I lugged the big boys....Mesa Trad 4x12 straight fronts were the bomb. They're prolly my 3rd fave behind Bogner 4x12s and CAA's...Oranges are cool too. Pretty much anything with a V30.

Just over a grand UK price - under 2K US$

well worth it though.

Dave

Wow! I thought they were a lot more expensive than that. It's not terrible, but it's not cheap. Certainly well within the range of what I might consider reasonable somewhere down the road.

i look at all these gigantic rigs on this thead, then i look at the lead going straight from my Luke into my Fender amp, i feel like a homeless person!

Sometimes less is more, can you imagine lugging those gig rigs up stairs for a gig???

My back is sore just thinking about it.

Scott.

Y'all have some excellent gear!

And now, the poor man's approach:

A Crate V32 Palomino and a handful o' pedals. Yup, this is both the "practice rig" as well as the "gig rig".

Anyone bringing a Bogner Ecstasy? :D A Duende? Man, any super cool boutique amp.

Man, I gotta hear that Guytron. The dealer around here is out of them, awaiting X'mas season stock.

The Mesa F-30, aka The Little Amp That Could :D

Aside from some cosmetic differences between our F-30s, we pretty much have the same rig. :D I took out my 535Q, which I never really warmed up to, and I added a Maxon SD-9. It's as simple as that.

Guytron. Best sounding amp I've played through. 2 channels of total bliss.

I'm with Tommy and Beej - I use a Guytron GT-100 head and a 2x12 Avatar cab loaded w/Celestion Classic Lead 80s.

Beej says 2 channels of total bliss. I say tonal bliss!

Hey Stoner!!!

I see you have a Hughes and Kettner Switchblade, what do you think of it??? can it get a heavy sound similar to a Dual rectifier??? I really like the concept but I have´nt been able to find one to try out. Any comments will be appreciated.

It's a good amp - but it's no Dual Recto. You can get some nice heavy sounds from it, and a good variety of EQ on top, for meaty rhythm chunk, and it is plenty loud. The built in FX are decent and work well, although you don't have much control over them - for example the minimum chorus setting you can have is more than I really like, but I'm stuck with it 'cos if you turn it down more it turns off completely. The clean sounds are a bit weak, but I don't use them much so no probs there. The main benefit is the convenience of having it all in one (not too heavy) box. Even with the Dual Recto I normally stick an MXR ZW44 in front of it, but with the H&K I don't need anything except a tuner and a wah. I run it through a GenzBenz G-Flex 2x12 and that seems a good combination. However I have heard that the H&K is a bit fragile and prone to faults so be cautious! Mine's OK so far.
