So, it took me 25 years to realize that I'm a rosewood board guy! I really just don't play it anymore and I'm in spring cleaning mode this week, so...

It's in great condition, only been played out twice (Star Spangled Banner for a WiffleBall tournament!) and has been in my smoke free home since I got it in 2004 (new, of course).

The only imperfections are a finish crack at the neck joint and a small ding by the belly contour - I took pics of both but you'd be hard pressed to see the ding. It's not through the finish. Jon verified for me that it's just a finish crack when I sent it in a few months ago.

Anyway, you can see it and some other things I'm dealing here:

If you're interested, PM me. I wanted to give my EBMM brothers & sisters a shot before they go out to wider distribution...

Dave,
I hear ya bro. I'm a rosewood kinda guy myself, but I wanted an old Al so bad that I was willing to look past that for this guitar. But I wouldn't buy another maple necked guitar. It probably doesn't make a lot of sense, it's just one of those intangibles.

Good luck with the sale.

Ha! Not yet, maybe at some point next year. I just have too much stuff right now - I'll replace the acoustic and the two amps will turn into one...

I’ve become hopelessly fickle about rosewood vs. maple board on my Sil Specials. Two months ago, no-one could have convinced me to put down my rosewood board (well, maybe 'cept Rob). It was warmer, fatter, juicier, etc blah blah. Since then I’ve devoted three weeks to the maple board. Today I restrung the rosewood and played it awhile. Now it’s a toss up, depending on what tone I’m wanting in the moment. Maybe that's why they make both? D’uh! :p

Its tough eh Bruce!!!!

i cant wait for my DD silo, just so i can test out this maple v R'wood theory on the same guitars.

Indeed it is, Rob. I still wind up playing the rosewood longer, easier to get totally lost in. But each has it's own mojo. Strange is that I prefer the bucker on the maple board guitar. Pretty sure they're both the same Virtual PAF's. Or, maybe they made the switch from PAF Pro in 2001?

Hey man, great score on your new rosewood Axis SS! Gawd, that looks beautiful.

thanks, i really love the MM90 tone. really looking forward to the all rosewood neck!!!

my mate Dave has a silo special HSS with rosewood board, and also the same axe with a maple board. we often have our silos out together to compare them, its interesting stuff! A ball party! I've managed to screw with his head though, every few days he'll tell me that the rosewood is THE one, a few days after that he says he's nuts- the maple is the best ever! crazy stuff, they are all just great i think.

but i have to say the rosewood has more depth i think, the maple silo sounds more twangy, a bit more mid range.

I really like the ebony fingerboard on my LP (not that I play it nowadaze!).
and that guitar has a warm sound to it - it does have 3 humbuckers on there though!!
I wonder what an EB guitar would sound like with Ebony?
