I just viewed the Sterling Ball videos on this website & I gotta say INCREDIBLE!!!
Mr. Ball, the demonstration you did of the harmonics of the Bongo....floored me. I know now what my next bass will be. I've never had the opportunity to play a Bongo, the local Guitar Center here has never had one in stock when I've been in, but if necessary after saving enough for one, I will travel to try one out.

Big Poppa can throw down for sure! He was just as awesome at the Open House playing with Morse, Luke, Petrucci, Moore, LaRue and Levin.....incredible. The thought of that always brings a smile to my face.

BP seems kind of like a lazy type player to me. Last weekend I seen him sitting down on the stage playing. :D I guess club soda does funny things to people.

I wish I could talk him into giving me some lessons. Bass playin that is. :)

Gary, I'll have one in Pittsburgh in a few months. (Dargie Delight Bongo 4H). It's only 2 hours or so... ;)

Honestly, if you can't find one to try by that time, let me know.

i played my first bongos the other day, 3 different 4bangers, 1 HH, and 1HS w/ Peizo, . and buttercreaml HS. The first two had AWFUL setups on them, but they still sounded great. The buttercream's setup was wonderful and I liked everything about the feel, sound, weight, look. too bad it's korea and they wanted 600bucks more than I'm willing to pay! Also, they mentioned the raise in prices as a pressure tactic...lol. good times!

Although I LOVE my HHSR5, I'm leaning toward the HS sound on the bongos

I would love a 5str bongo :)

I love mine.

I just don't know how to explain it as I love my SR5 too.

The band said we love the sound of that Bongo 5. I have been playing it exclusively ever since.

However I am not in a band right now. Recent and it hurts.

The deal is if you haven't played a Bongo you should. Then form your opinion.

imho

I've spoken with the manager of the GC here, he said they've had a number of Bongo's in the store, but no sooner do they put one out on display & someone scoops it up. Guess I just have to be lucky & be in the store between those 2 times.

I just got finished watching some of the videos; they are indeed awesome! I did play a Bongo HH at the time I got my Sterling. Way cool and awesome tones but the Sterling just knocked me out. :)

Hey Gary if you are talking about the Mayfield Hts store they had two identical Bongos there for the longest time. They even reduced the price at some of the Memorial Day and Labor Day sales.. But you're right, they are gone last I looked. :(

Yep, that's the store, guess they had them when I was not looking to buy, since I'm happy with the Amp I have for the time being, I usually don't go into the store unless I'm there for something specific, don't need to go into debt unless absolutely necessary.

Watching those videos of Sterling showing off his chops and his basses was awesome. Shows that hes into his product as much as we all are.

I only briefly played a few Bongo's at the EBOH and really liked them. I'd actually probably go for a fretless Bongo 5. :)
