I just dropped $230 on a Vox-AD-30 modelling amp and it has been growing on me ever since. For a 30 watt amp, it has good versitility, great sound, and is lightweight.
+1 on the Vox Valvetronix amps. I just plunked down $190 for a brand spankin new AD30VT and I really love it. Its got great effects and amp simulations. I think it really nails that AC30 sound, and the delay is just a trip. I got a footswitch and the two channel switching is great. The little 10 inch sounds as good as my 12 inch drivers. I don't thnk anyone can go wrong with this little jewel, and for the money, how do you beat it? I can now do without effects pedals for the most part at home.

What about an Ep1phone valve jnr?

I've heard some pretty good reports on that considering the price.

Plus, I think the latest versions have resolved some of the known tonal issues (or get one of the mods of the interweb).

Small Tube Amp

I just picked up a Mahaffay Little Lanelai 3350LT. Its really cool. It's got a 6" speaker. The whole thing is 8x8x7 and sounds awesome!

I use a Fender Prinston Reverb 65 reissue and I am digging the amp... 15W and a single 8 inch speaker... you do have to break it in a bit when you get it but it nails the early Zeppelin Sound with the Axis (Jimmy used one on Zep 1 & 2 with a Tele) and it does the warm Floyd sound very good as well (when you have single coils). However, you can't really throw a distortion pedal in front of it so it won't do Metal... but a killer little tube amp... especially with the tube break up with the volume at 6 or 7... I was surprised. I also love the Bad Cat Amps... just a little to much $$$$ at the moment.

The Blackstar HT5 is great, 5 watt valve in either a combo or head.

I have to second this... I have the combo and it just sounds great. Its also very loud. I have used it in a few pit orchestra situations (mic'd once and direct out once... Also did it once unmic'd in a local high school auditorium that I was hired to play for).

But anyway, by far the best "home" amp I have ever used.
