I just noticed something odd with my Pet today, I was putting my new amp (Mesa F-50) through it's paces and noticed that when I roll the volume in either direction, I get a crackle/hiss like I have a dirty/noisy pot. Never noticed this before with my Fuchs Blackjack21 amp and it doesn't happen with my TCM with my Mesa. Do I have a pot going bad or worse, are my solder joints still not perfect on the PC board after I put the original bridge pickup back in? It's been in the guitar for two months now so who knows what's happening. I guess the Mesa is sensitive.

Pots get a little scratchy (especially here in the dry, dusty desert climate), and can usually be worked out by moving them back and forth, or I guess they can be cleaned. But if you're getting crackling noises I'd have that checked out.

This has happened to my JP occationally and it can be solved by spraying some electonics cleaning spray to the root of the pot. You dont even have to pull off the knob. It's cheap and can be easily found.

Make sure you use one with a lube in it or spay some electronic lube into it after cleaning. Caig products work really well.
