Hey folks - I picked up Santamental a few months back, and now that the holidays are here, I've started listening to it. All I can say is.....wow. Great album. Luke fans owe it to themselves to pick this one up. Lots of great guests on this one too.

We all know Luke's playing is second to none, but lately I've really been hooked on his vocals. I even find myself listening to 'his' songs more when it comes to Toto. Anyway, I just thought I'd share. Great job Lucious!

That would be a tough call. I find myself listening to 'Look out for Angels' a lot. It's just a really cool holiday feeling tune. Prior to this, during the holidays I generally listened to the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack. Lots of great jazz piano with good feel. This album will now likely take the top spot. Hear that Luke? You beat out Charlie Brown! :D

Yah, now it's quite the right time to blow dust off SantaMental - by the way, it was fun playing the CD in the office during this summer, got some really weird looks :D

I'd recommend everyone to check out El Grupo live, which I just got via air mail - this one is a BLAST!

I play it all year around man, who says you can only play Christmas music during Christmas time. ;)

I can't wait to see what Luke comes up with from being in the studio next. :D

SantaMental is a fantastic cd, can't wait to crank it this Christmas day, what a perfect day, lots of beer, food and Luke crankin' through the stereo.

I have retired my Gary Hoey Christmas Cd's since I bought Santamental....Gary's stuff is cool, but it doesn't hold a candle to Santamental.

Surprised he didn't sing 'Walkin' round in women's underwear' :D

Thanks for this thread Mike, I'd meant to pick up Santamental in time for this holiday season and I'd forgotten about it. My order's in now so looking forward to hearing it when it arrives.

I got mine from Amazon.

BP thanx for the tip I'll have to add that to my list.

Jon, Gary Hoey's from these parts, great guy and an awesome player in his own right.

Yeah, I'm kinda getting into Luke's work myself lately. I recently got the 25th Ann. DVD. I freakin' love it! Check out his sound on "Gift with a golden gun" or the cover of "While my guitar gently weeps" ... what the hell, ANY SONG! He's really one of the best guitarist ever to walk the face of this planet.

BTW How does he get such a niceeeeeee lead sound on the bridge humbucker?

And a stupid / tricky question? How come he has a pretty weel balanced sound between the neck single coil and the bridge humbucker (gain-wise). You almost can't hear that the difference in gain?! (SC's should be a little weaker, right?)

Hey - no problem! Happy to share. I'm enjoying the other recommendations too (Thanks BP and others). Given how in to Luke's vocals I am right now, I'm looking to get more.
