Anyone got any sound clips of them playing their Stingray 4?? Tried a search but it turned up nothing. Also, do MM have any copyrights on the Stingrays? I see so many copies and it surprises me a great bass doesn't have copyrights on its shape or anything.

I did try a search, forum searches seem to hate me though. Thanks for the clips, they sound great. Any help on the copyrights?

I believe the two most likely items on the Stingray to be patented would be the 3+1 headstock and the truss rod adjustment wheel. BP should be able to chime in after the holiday weekend and confirm or otherwise.

Hmm is the truss rod wheel at the bottom of the fretboard? If so, can't imagine its copyrighted because my Peavey has one. I never noticed the headstock was 3 + 1 :D Ok, i'll wait for said user after said weekend. In the meantime, anyone with more sound clips will be much loved :D

Patent and copyright are two different things. Can't imagine there's much in the way of patents out there for bass guitars - maybe something like the Line 6 Variax Bass, something totally off the wall like that, just a guess. A copyrighted trademark could be the body shape, headstock shape, logo, name, etc.

Two of my favorite SR players are Bernard Edwards (was, unfortunately - RIP) who played with Chic, David Bowie and others. Also check out Paul Denman on Sade's Smooth Operator. Tons of others out there.
